Career Opportunities Forcast

What does the Bungie's career opportunity forcast look like? Now that the holiday break is over, do you think it is a good time to send in that resume to Bungie?

  • I honestly don't see why anyone would apply for a AAA studio. It might look fun but the pay really isn't that great in AAA and half of the IT work is outsourced for cheap to India. Unless someone from Bungie can put my facts right.

AFAIAC pay is just a bonus, to get an inside look at the process of creating a AAA title, priceless..

It's exactly the same as a smaller game, just with more people creating fancier graphics with fancier equipment. That's literally it. Don't get me wrong, when I'm through university I'd love to try for Bungie for the atmosphere and camaraderie of it all, but still. [Edited on 01.02.2013 10:08 AM PST]

And Bungie seems to be different in that fact. There seems to be a majestic aspect to Bungie. I am not sure from whom or what this magic eminates from, but I must know the source!

Looking at a general job in the AAA industry, no thanks. Bungie, I'd consider.

If you go indie, you'll be more involved in the game you're working on. If you go AAA you'll get to see the codebase, learn how to adapt, etc. There's more, and saying "It's exactly the same as a smaller game, just with more people creating fancier graphics with fancier equipment. That's literally it.", is just wrong.

We have a family friend who works at Playground Games and it's seriously just more indepth asset creation with a deeper codebase that any dedicated indie could make just as much use of (though he probably wouldn't need to)

There's a huge difference from what they've started learning depending on the studio, but the biggest difference is between the indie and AAA interns/workers. But that's just programmers, no idea about artists, but level designers got better tools at their disposal at an AAA studio.

Made by lots more people. Granted there's a bit more to it but nothing that the everyday employee is going to encounter, especially an entry level one.

  • I wish you good luck Ingot, I think the fact that someone from Pixar skipped over to Bungie is a good sign ;) (can't remember the breaking in article that was mentioned in, sorry)
