As soon as a new Halo game comes out, everyone hates it

I mean, honestly. Halo 2 came out, a bunch of people started hating it. Halo 3 came out, everyone suddenly "put aside their differences" and started hating that instead. Halo: Reach? One of the biggest hate problems so far. Halo 4 is no different. I seem to see a pattern here.

 • When halo 2, 3, odst and reach came out, I never hated any of them, when halo 4 came out, I hated that game so much that it angered me.... Here's the problem.

 • I just accept the games for what they are and play them.
Same thing here with me. I've loved all of the Halos (CE-Reach)...except for Halo 4 :/ I can't really say that it's so bad that I absolutely hate it, because that's not the case...but something about it is completely different from everything we've had before and it's a poorer quality game than anything we got from Bungie :( Anyone who does like it, I'm not going to bash them for their opinion or anything like that at all...but for me at least Halo 4 is the one disappointment in the whole run of Halo games.

 • I'm not talking about the newer additions to the Bungie community, like you guys. Don't any of you remember the stuff about the BR when Halo 3 came out? Or people raging so hard about armor abilities in Halo: Reach? Personally, I think nostalgia is what's killing the community.

 • I liked all halos 1-3, was iffy about ODST, and saw many canon errors reach but could stand it. But I had (what I believed) were realistic expectations about what would be in Halo 4. For example the portal system, we have seen forerunner portals before and they weren't massive swirling holes, also they didn't affect Cortana at all. Another and final example is that I expected forerunner weapons that looked like they could have been reverse engineered into covy weapons. How you go from hardlight to plasma I don't understand. So I think its a combination of expectations and nostalgia.

 • All I remember from this frankly horrid community over the 11 years of being a Halo fan is each and every game having its bandwagon of loud, pseudo-authoritative haters, who then acted like the preceding game was the second coming of Christ - it is a pattern that will forever continue.

 • ^I'm sure Reach is so praised now since Halo 4 is out.... Every game has hate though. No doubt about that. It's just to what extent.

 • I thought this was common knowledge. Honestly, it is not surprising. Nostalgia works wonders on the memory.

 • its not really like that, there will always be haters for everything. There's probably people who hated halo 2 but love halo 3 or hated halo 3 and loved halo 4. Theres not really a defined pattern about it. Any one who hates it will rant about on the forums. I personally enjoyed all the other Halo games and did not like Halo 4.

 • While this pattern might be true to the Halo community as a whole, it certainly isn't true individually. I had no problem with anything pre-Reach, including Halo Wars. Halo Reach and Halo 4 didn't meet my expectations. They have their strengths but they are out-weighed by their weaknesses, IMO. Halo 4s campaign especially left me sour.

 • Believe me, if there is something I don't like, I complain and whine about it... Reach--for instance--was accused of not being canon casue of how poorly it aligned with TFoR, and that it broke multiplayer with Armor Lock. I complained about of both those things, and a handful more. ODST was accused of being no more than an expansion, a lazy reskin of Halo 3. I complained about the gameplay being far to similar to Halo 3, enough so that I never could look past how similarily capable an ODST was to a Spartan. I pettily whined about how much potential Sadies story was wasted by not being interwoven with the main thread, and how lazily slapped on it felt no matter how good it was on its own, that it wasted its bare existance by not being connected to Second Sunrise Over New Mombassa! I went on and on about how boring and flat (literally) the open-world city was, and that I couldn't--for all that is holy--grasp why Bungie decieded to add half a dozen watered down classic, linear Halo levels into the narrative, after having decided that they didn't want to tell the story in a convetional way. At least allow the player to find the clues in any order, and that the way the story would supported it. I felt that the entire game was compromise; an incredibly promising game that contained everything needed to live up to its potential, yet barely managed to convay what it strived towards cause of how it was put together. I even -blamed!- about how unpolished the otherwise fantastic Halo 2 was. I cursed Bungie for replacing the e3 demo New Mombasa with -ugh!- Cried over how broken the lunge was in Halo 3, and that Big Team Battle in Matchmaking was allowed to be ruined by self-righteous, expoiting, boredoms that played to dominate. Adapt.. *facepalm* The thing about Halo 4 though, is that not only have I got more to complain about than previously, I find nearly nothing to praise. As for the consensus, it seems to be the same; lots and lots of different, game-covering complaints, and little to no praise (hell, I saw a lot more praise for FUD). But whatevs right? Some like it, some don't. Let the praisers praise, and the haters hate! Newton's Law... [Edited on 12.27.2012 2:43 PM PST]

 • I just hate how the game mechanics work in 4. The scope recoil is even worse than bloom.

It's prettier? The multiplayer is playable? Chief finally made it back to Earth? CGI cutscenes?

 • Halo 4 is an uninspired game that is the product of microsoft trying to milk the franchise. Its very obvious that there are so many glaring problems with the game accross a broad spectrum of issues that its not just "people hating the game" like previous titles. 343 industries very obviously has people running the show that dont know what they are doing. FYI the Lead Project director worked on.............wait for it..............DEF JAM VENDETTA.... Yes, Def Jam Vendetta project lead is the Project lead for Halo 4. Now that wasnt a bad game, but it does not qualify you to work on a title like Halo 4. also FYI - the Lead Cinematic Director LEFT 343 industries because he didnt like the direction the game was going in. I suppose your Positive Polly's will just chalk him up to being a Hater.... Get real People, Halo 4 is a Piece of Garbage that looks beautiful and has beautiful music. I feel sorry for the artists because they did a great job, only to have their work squandered by horrible writing, stale dialogue, Completely broken gameplay, and Idiots like Kiki Wolfkill and the Guy who worked on Def Jam Vendetta. • Well there is reasons to hate Halo 4. I still hate how 343i did things. Not even all the gametypes are on Halo 4 for Multiplayer. Why the hell call it war games? Sounds like some cupcake crap there real talk. Spartan Ops is an exact concept of Spec ops from CoD. In addition a lot of things are just like CoD in Halo 4, just like ordinance drops>carepackages or loadouts>classes. I miss Bungie.

 • For all the haters of Halo 4 I wish to say a few things. Halo 4 is nowhere near a great game, but also nowhere near a bad game. A great game is not one that sticks with you for a year. It's the game that you can come back to for a decade or two or three. Examples: Super Mario World, Super Castlevanis 4, Sonic 2, LoZ:OoT. A bad game is one that will literally haunt your dreams at night, because of its craptastic gameplay. Examples: Superman64, Shaq Fu, Search and Destroy(PS2),Resident Evil 6 Please learn the difference between a bad game and a game that isn't good.

 • YES! That exactly right. It's just not the same as all the other Halo games. Heck, even the music isn't 'Halo'. Bungie please stop 343 from raping halo :(
