And now every average Joe can get it... Why don't we increase the posts to get a hot topic to 101 posts. Just because.

I think we should make it over 9000

what's wrong with a regular joe getting a hot topic? [Edited on 12.26.2012 3:56 PM PST]

A better idea would have multiple levels for hot topic. 50 for Red Flames, 200 for Blue Flames, 500 for Green Flames. [Edited on 12.26.2012 3:56 PM PST]

Great idea champ!

A hot topic isn't some kind of award that's supposed to be difficult to achieve, it's used to simply tell people that a certain thread is popular. The hot topic symbol is just more eye-catching than a thread without a symbol. I don't see reason for changing the criteria.
Posted by: Bricypoo I think we should make it over 9000
I find this humorous. By and by, I notice no difference in how obtainable Hot Topics are; Your silliness levels are off the charts.

This is only a problem if you think getting hot topics is a sign of worth. If you think a hot topic is just a topic with a lot of replies, it stops mattering who gets them and who doesn't.

If you're making threads just to increase your number of hot topics, then you're not doing it right.

lol it never has. Most of my threads go hot topic and they're all -blam!-.

It really isn't a big deal.
Posted by: ALI217 What's wrong with a regular joe getting a hot topic?
OP, do you think that because most hot topics are just spam and stupid threads? Because I've seen tons of threads that are hot topics, and offer real discussion value.

Blame the filthy forum casuals. They're ruining the hot topic skill gap. Lool, just joking. But I don't see the problem with an average jo achieving a hot topic. As long as there's some discussion value I've got no problem. [Edited on 12.26.2012 7:50 PM PST]

I don't see an ocean of fire anywhere.
-
Why does it matter to you?
-
"Actual skills?"
-
Why would getting a hot topic be a problem?
-
I dont get it? What's so bad about having a lot of hot topics? If you think only the ones with over 100 posts are worthy of your gaze, then just look the post count next to the thread and only go to the ones with over 100. If you use the forums to get hot topics, you are doing it wrong.

Skill? I don't think that's quite the word for what you're trying to describe. Creating a discussable thread requires thought, not skill. Thinking isn't a skill.
