With Bungies discard of managing the Halo Universe the population on these forums dropped significantly.
With the announcement and future release of Destiny it's very likely these forums will transubstantiate a great population influx.
In my experience the forums were properly moderated during the Halo times, but only decently during their latest installment: the Reach days. The reason to it is ofcourse the large amount of community members and the only fair amount of moderators.
Also, it appears to me these moderators only operate on different, non-overlaying time zones.
I suggest looking into this in order to moderate the forums more properly in future years. My suggestions are:
1) Expanding the team with more forum moderators.
2) Hiring forum moderators in different time-zones to steady and overlay moderating in general.
I'm sure there are enough capable people eagerly awaiting to amplify the team. This will result in a more fairly moderated community since a lot of offenses were and still are overlooked.

I think we have a decent amount of mods to regulate the forums, but it wouldn't hurt to have a few more.

Got one Mod in Australia, one in Norway, on I believe in DC, another in Washington State, am I missing anyone?
-
I'm sure we have more than enough moderators for the site. I don't think we'll experience the surge of new members we had during the Reach era. Since it's a new IP, there will be a steady flow of curious members over the next few months after the official announcement of Destiny. I'm sure that the amount of active moderators we have is sufficient enough to keep these forums in check.

Also OP, the current mod team is pretty spread out geography. We have people from different parts of the U.S, UK, Norway and Australia. If the webteam thinks it's necessary to get more mods, they'll get more mods. History has shown they normally expand the team every dev cycle/ close to an announcement. Don't see why this time will be any special (unless something groundbreaking happens with Bungie.next and there no need for more mods).

I think we do have mods on different time zones, but I suppose majority of them are from US. But so will be the new members, so I don't think there will be any problems. ..or let's say that when there are problems, they are under control.

Moderators being unavailable was one of the things I brought up in the topic about an ignore feature a while back. Isn't that something more preferable?
Posted by: KoolenIn my experience the forums were properly moderated during the Halo times
You didn't visit the Halo forums often then. It was simply impossible for ninjas to keep up. This is an inevitability, and will likely be the same for Destiny, more ninjas or not. That being said, if they get a few more good men..couldn't hurt. We will have a whole new console of fans to prepare against, after all. I don't volunteer, nor could I with my lack of connections and track record anyway..but not the point. Nope. Another preparation thread. Welcome to the party.

Many people in the past; moderation was sufficient Now there are few people; the moderation is very sufficient In the future there will be many people; the moderation will be sufficient, just as it was in the past.

I think that there are enough mods, just a lot of them are dormant.

why don't the forums moderate themselves
-
I think we'll be just peachy with the ninjas we currently have. I'm guessing that we may get a couple new ones in the near future though.
-
I think there are enough. With the release of the next game, Bungie employees will certainly rejoin the discussions. They're capable of doing the same thing
-
If all of the mods Bungie appointed were active, instead of dormant for years, then there would be no problem. I think Bungie should only appoint more mods if the current ones can't handle all the new members.

Every single person on this website is a moderator. If you use the report tool, bad threads/posts get dealt with pretty quickly.
Posted by: dazarobbo Moderators being unavailable was one of the things I brought up in the topic about an ignore feature a while back.
Posted by: roman arrow12 Every single person on this website is a moderator. If you use the report tool, bad threads/posts get dealt with pretty quickly.
Agreed... I think the moderators are great and can handle it. But I'm sure Bungie knows what to do if things get crazy for the current moderators.
-
I think we have a decent amount of mods to bully us! Joking I love you mods, don't ban me! :9
-
Instead of making more mods to ban more individuals...why not give the mods we have buttons of mass destruction, that ban lots of ppl at once?
-
I think that we should wait and see if we need more moderators before we start talking about hiring more of them.
