It is obvious that members of the seventh column can get to a place of prestige such as the Ninjas, but no member can gain the power of a Bungie employee without...well...becoming a Bungie employee. On that note it got me thinking.
How many community members have followed their passion for games, gained a profession in the industry and with the proper amount of experience points, applied and got offered a place at Bungie Studios?
How many of you (the current community members) are training/planning to train yourselves in the gaming industry? After a couple years will you apply to Bungie?
What profession are you/would you be filling?
This is not aimed just at the people training. Anyone who dreams or thinks about it.....What would you want to do in the gaming industry

If I had decided to do anything in the gaming industry, It probably would have been voice over. I can do a variety of different character voices.
-
If I were to get a job with Bungie it would probably be within in the writing or art team. I have no engineering experience. But the truth is, I'm not a great artist or writer, so I wouldn't get in with them at all.
-
I'm working towards a BS in Computer Science at my university. I'm interested in 3D computer animation too, which I can experiment with if I go for a Digital Media minor. If all goes the way I want, I'll get some experience with the game development club on campus, intern at Microsoft at some point, work on some projects by myself. I'd like to get into the industry right out of college. Bungie is my first choice, followed by Gearbox. But I'm only a freshman now, that's several years down the road.

Depends on what you define as a community member. Bungie.net community? Or the complete online Bungie community.
-
I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to to be a writer or try and be a community manager like DeeJ or Urk when the position opens again. I know I'm not the only one however, it'd be really difficult.

Every day I think about working at Bungie, but then I just say hey, I'll just do something easier, and become a doctor. Really, Bungie is great, but I don't see myself ever being a good enough game designer, or engineer to work there. [Edited on 12.08.2012 4:47 PM PST]

Bungie will be working for me.. Yeah, one day.
-
I have no skills. I could be the official snack go-getter. Or cheerer-upper when things go badly.
-
If I were to work at Bungie, my job would be the full-time groomer of Sage's beard.
-
I'd be hard-pressed to find an exception if I said we were all fans before we were colleagues.

I currently have a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and am thinking about starting my MBA soon and considering specializing in Marketing for that. I would consider a Marketing Management role at Bungie someday, maybe. Dream big, folks.

Shishka.

Hey, Xerxdeej, want to lend some insight? [Edited on 12.08.2012 8:16 PM PST]
Posted by: st3althsniper22 Shsika, but he left.
Wasn't he an employee first, then community member, and then employee again? Or was there a moment of memberness beforehand that I was unaware of?

Well, I'm studying Computer Science at Western Washington University. We'll see where that takes me :)

I'm currently getting my Bachelors in Fine Arts in Digital Art and Animation (BFA) at DigiPen in Redmond WA. As far as Bungie goes, it all depends were I'm at in four years. If I don't push for my other aspirations then I will definitely apply for a job at Bungie. I can not tell you what I would do there yet.

Not anymore, Digipen moved to a new campus around 2010 in North Redmond, at 9931 Willows Rd. NE.
