Seriously guys, is it Nop, with a silent G, Gee-nop, or some other variation?!
Posted by: BobBQ Gnop like gnome, says I.
I'm going to start saying guh-nome now.
-
Acording to google translate it's nop.
-
Gnop like gnome, says I.
-
I pronounce it as "guh-nop", but I don't think the way you pronounce it is important, as long as people know what you're talking about.
-
I have always pronounced it G'nop, with a big ol' G sound out in front. And if thats wrong, I dont want to be right.
-
To those saying the G is silent, I think you would be right under normal circumstances, but in this case, I don't think you are. Since GNOP is PONG spelled backwards, I think you should essentially say PONG backwards. The 70's board game GNIP GNOP was pronounced with both of the Gs as it was a play on PING PONG. I think the same applies here. Since you pronounce the Gs with the words normal forwards spelling, you pronounce the Gs in the backward spelling as well. Of course, it's largely up to Bungie how we should pronounce their game, and I've not heard either way from them. [Edited on 12.08.2012 7:30 PM PST]

It is pronounced "nop". When -G- is before -N- it is usually silent. [Edited on 12.08.2012 6:25 PM PST]

When a G and a N are next to each other it's pronounced nnn, so nop.
-
Well it's 'pong' backwards, so I think it could be a nasal glugging sound followed by 'OP'soooooo.....(GGG)nop. *It sounds a lot better in the real than in text >.<
-
I pronounce it 'Ga-nop'. It's just fun to say.
-
Dunno about you, but I think it rhymes with QWOP.
-
I don't know about you, but I pronounce it as "Nop".
