When did we all start liking Reach?

For as long as i can remember, everyone has always thought of reach as the problem child of the halo family, the game that no matter how you looked at it, you would end up finding disappointment. Even just a week or two ago everyone was still saying lolreach this lolreach that, what happened flood?

 • And now we appreciate what Reach had to offer now that Halo 4 changed all kinds of things. Personally, I still liked Halo 3 the best.

 • 343bots will read what they want to read. The majority still hates Reach. History did not repeat, the first three were liked again because they were actually good.

 • Reach was okay at best compared to the original trilogy. Halo 4 is far superior in my humble opinion.

 • Halo Reach is the pinnacle of Halo gaming. Very unpopular opinion, but it's my opinion.

 • I still don't like Halo Reach, so I guess I didn't get the memo that we were supposed to be liking Halo Reach all of the sudden. In all seriousness, people are just saying that they like Halo Reach because they believe that Halo 4 is bad, so it somehow means that Halo Reach is now good. [Edited on 12.06.2012 3:57 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: Obi Wan Stevobi
Posted by: CharlesBrown33 Reach is god damn horrible as of right now, but going back to 2010 and early 2011 I can't deny I had a blast playing it, mainly because I stuck in the DLC playlists and never bothered with maps like Sword Base or Boardwalk.
Reach is a "god damn horrible", but also "a blast" when you didn't have to play those 2 maps? Perhaps you mean to say Reach was a fun game with 2 bad maps? Maybe you didn't mean to say that, just guessing because what you did say doesn't make much sense.
What I meant to say is, the game was pretty solid if you only played in the DLC maps. Maps that didn't encourage grenade spam, maps where Armor Lock wasn't that useful, and maps that didn't encourage people to get to a Yellow Lift room.

 • I hate base reach I dislike base 4 because of how much strategy and strategic advantages are lost.

 • I actually really liked Halo Reach. There were a lot of flaws, granted. BUT it was still fun to play, imo. 4v4 was still a priority, and maps weren't huge and crammed with vehicles. Sure bloom was awful, and armour lock led to frustrating situations, but I've sunk more hours into Reach than any other Halo game (although I enjoyed H2/3 more just had more on at the time), and it kept me entertained for 2 years. I am already bored of H4, its random gameplay, removal of core halo features, and overall bull-blam!-. H:Reach >>> H4 imo.

I respect everyone that says Reach/Halo 4 is bad even thought I don't agree with them. It's okay if you like or don't like a video game. But cannibalism is different.

 • Also, anyone whining about how Bungie retconned canon should probably stop whining. When compared to the global sales of Halo: Reach (~9 million), the sales of The Fall of Reach (1 million as of 2009) only come to about 1/9 of those people. Then, when you take into account all of the people who bought the book but didn't play the game, that fraction becomes even smaller. The point is, the overwhelming majority of people who played Reach never read The Fall of Reach and so acting like it's this huge betrayal of a much-loved and amazing book (which has been panned by critics as an action-movie in book form) is silly. It's Bungie's series, they can do with it what they want. Do you think that the new Star Wars movie's sales will suffer because it's not using the EU? Nope. Not even a little. ©

 • Halo 4 came out. It's the cycle, back in '04 everyone hated Halo 2, then in '07 everyne hated Halo 3(and loved 2), then in '10 Everyone hated reach (and loved 3), then in '12 everyone hated 4 (then loved reach). then in '1? everyone hated 5 (and praised 4, then in '1? everyone hated 6 (and praised 5), and then the Halo series ended. Now, in '20, everyone loves Halo 6 compared to other modern games.
