Bungie Community Wednesdays 2

Tonight's the night for witches and monsters to roam the streets, a night for candies and treats. So community, trick or treat? Happy Halloween everyone, and welcome to week 2 of Bungie Community Wednesdays! Last week started out with some negative feedback from a few members and I was discouraged, I admit. But, for the most part everyone else enjoyed it and some even participated which made everyone here very happy. It doesn't matter to me how many people disliked it, if they don't like these then they don't have to read them. What matters to me are the community members that do enjoy these Wednesday programs. This is because we make these for you, the community. It isn't about getting popular like some of you may think, it's about connecting and entertaining you all. So as long as we're doing that, we'll press on! Now, let's begin. Thread spotlights: This week there were two threads that interested me. One was because it reminded me of the Halloween spirit, and the other because I found it to be pretty funny. The first thread of the week was Frankenmember. It didn't get many responses but I think it should have. It was an interesting concept for a thread and I think it goes well with this week's Community Wednesday because it is Halloween, after all. Props to you, John McGhee 1975. The second thread was just pretty funny, and I'm sure many of you saw "Can I apply to be a janitor at Bungie HQ?". It was an honest attempt for ShadedSpartan17 to try and use his amazing cleaning skills to help Bungie in their quest for world domination. Maybe someday, ShadedSpartan17. Maybe someday. Chapter Spotlight: This week we went to The Classifieds once again to bring you a potential group for you join today. Straight from their ad, we give you The Game Lounge. I could sit here and tell you what it's all about in there but it wouldn't be very accurate, would it? So here to tell you all about TGL I give you, A Lemur Monkey.
What we have to offer: We offer many things, including but not limited to Game Nights, Contests, Game Discussion, and a friendly community. Why it was established: I established this group because I was tired of not being able to find a group for me to discuss any game I wanted to discuss. So I figured, why don't I make one? So I did, I came up with the idea of a group that will discuss any game we please, a group that allows its members to set up contests or game nights of their own, a group with mature members, and a group where people can make friends. Why users would enjoy the group: As I said countless times before, we have a very mature community, and we are dedicated to keeping it that way. We also have many events going on at one time. There is almost always a contest or a game night going on. And of course, there are tons of friends to be made. <3 Lemur
Like what you're seeing? Join today! Community Joes announcement: For those who aren't familiar with the Community Joes, they are a fine group in are community who interview members, who are selected through a voting process, so that the community can understand a little more about them. I am happy to announce that the Joes have began voting again! So if you would like to take part of the voting process and select the member that will be interviewed, join up and vote today! Community Reflection: This week we selected a member in our community, who has been here for quite some time, to share with us about his time here with the community. He's half dog, half man, half goat (or at least I think he is). Take it away, dmg!

 • [continued]
Posted by: dmg04 All in all, Bungie.net has been a wild ride, and it will continue to be for years to come. Even in darkness this place is an absolute riot. From the Flood to the Community to Private groups, There's always something to talk about, someone to argue with, and ways to be trolled. I'll get my group shoutouts out of the way right now; The WorkPLace, Mythic Members, Bnet Regulars, CMWKA, YANW, Deltas Dungeon, Dead Mans Hand, and The Darkest Corner. Without these private groups to lurk and post in, I don't think I'd still be around. At first these forums were just a place to talk about Halo. Eventually I was able to join a few custom games with members, trying to get golden warthogs or lure 'mega hunters' out of some weird piece of geometry on Coagulation (that was a complete waste of 3 hours, by the way). As soon as halo 3 launched, though, something happened. The first step into truly appreciating this community was becoming a part of a sub-community. I was lucky enough to be accepted into Halo 3 in The WorkPLace after a good thrashing in Big Team Battle. The months after were a crash course in new friendships. With such a tight nit group of people, It was easy to get to know everyone. Especially when playing nightly games. As the group kept expanding, the amount I came to this website increased. It was then that I began thinking about the people on the other side of usernames, as well as participating more in The Flood, Halo 3, Optimatch and Community Forums. As for The Flood and Community, It's been nice watching them grow in their own ways. The Flood has quite a few frequent members that actually post serious threads that make you think, aside from bringing news stories to the eyes of those who may never see them depending on their location in the world. At first glance, You may just think it's a jumbled mess of Random threads. To be honest, you're entirely right! I do implore you, take some time to actually scroll through the threads. You'll definitely find some gems in there. With the Community, just wow. Chorrizo is an awesome example of how this forum in particular is crazy; I honestly hadn't seem him post until a certain intoxicated thread of mine. At PAX 2012, He went out of his way to fulfill something he had said; "You deserve a cookie". This man, from the internet, gave me a physical cookie, without actually knowing who I was. Now look at him, Posting a weekly community centric thread! You really can find people with genuine passion for this place in the most random places. (Note; I do not condone taking candy or delicious cookies from strangers unless you're 21 and don't mind being duct taped by moderators of an online gaming forum) Last thing I'd like to throw out there; PAX is an eye opener. Really, ANY sort of real life interaction with other members is amazing. Private groups and main forums will gain you friendships and people to play with... but meeting people in person is a whole new ball game. The ODST truck tour actually introduced me to ibmeubu, Psychotex, and Funpag. These men of the SoCal region are some of the most respectable people I've ever had the honor to meet. Following that event, PAX 2010 and PAX 2012... Words cannot express how amazing those weekends were. Dearest reader, while I can't pay for your airfare or gas... I beg you to get out there and actually meet some of these amazing folks of the Bnet forums. Be safe, but don't be too scared to throw your hand out for a shake and introduce yourself. You will meet incredible people. You will gain the best of friends. You will never regret the laughter, tears of joy, fistbumps or shots of DeadSnakeSake. Shoutouts; DeeJ and Urk - Thanks for being kickass Community Managers. The WorkPLace - For everything you guys have done over the past 3+ years Bungie.net as a whole - For being awesome and growing into something beautiful over the past near 8 years All the moderators - For keeping us bluebars tame. Random buds - Anelf, Scapegoat, Helveck, Spudster, Skibur, Halo53, Primo84, Topgun, and Primum. Last but not least, shoutout to DeathPimp. You may be gone, but you really were one of the greatest guys I got to meet through this website. Thanks for the good times, And we'll always miss you. R.I.P. (m) '04 or bust.
Community Q&A Results: Last week we asked some questions and you answered them. Here are some of the best ones with a very special quest, Parson Shaffer. Let's get this started.

 • [continued]
HeyBlade789: How would you describe the members of our community? Passionate! Potentially a little nerdy - but we're okay with that right? PS: Are you freaking kidding me, I'm not a nerd. Sure I have memorized every episode of start trek and can speak fluent klingon. But I am no nerd. What do you think of DeeJ's weekly mailsacks? Honestly? I like them, but I don't follow them religiously. PS: What is your problem? Deej is such a kind sir that he puts in great time and effort into those. YOu should read the mail sack every single day like I do until the next one comes. Obviously you do not have enough respect for the man. I even have this framed in my bedroom If you could have any colored text what would it be and why? Green, because I like green! MsCadetUNIVERSE: How would you describe the members of our community? They are pretty cool, but not as cool as Parson Staffer, What do you think of DeeJ's weekly mailsacks? Needs moar Parson Staffer. What was your favorite part of last week's mail sack? The part with Parson Staffer! Or was that two weeks ago? If you were the webmaster for the day what would you do? Make Parson Staffer a ninja. What keeps you coming back to b.net? Have you seen Staffer's biceps?! Who's your favorite member here on b.net? >__> Please.... What would your avatar be if you were a forum ninja? A bright white Marathon symbol on a dark blue background. If you could have any colored text what would it be and why? The color of Syagger's eyes. PS: Well thank you, you little beautiful lady. I know my charming personality and dashing good looks can make most girls lose control of them selves. But please, try to control your self. Also I would like to point out how you requested to make me a forum ninja. I completely agree with this idea and I hope the ninjas decide to make me the next forum ninja! ecartman1214: How would you describe the members of our community? Dysfunctional PS: Which is why I am big for dictatorship, vote for me to take Achronos' position! What do you think of DeeJ's weekly mailsacks? Needs moar Destiny! PS: I can see your destiny, and it is you living alone with 12 cats. What was your favorite part of last week's mail sack? I didn't read it :P PS: You should be banned for not reading it. If you were the webmaster for the day what would you do? Make Tom T a bannable offense. PS: So I shouldn't do Tom T? What keeps you coming back to b.net? Many years ago I was promised cake. I have patience. PS: You are such and idiot if you had played portal you would know the cake is a lie. If you could have any colored text what would it be and why? A whiter white maybe with slightly noticeable florescent glow. PS: So like the color of Urk's skin? DMX1337: How would you describe the members of our community? Mentally unstable at the very least. PS: Speaking for your self I see. What do you think of DeeJ's weekly mailsacks? It's nice to get some input from the employees, even if it's on trivial subjects. The wit and humor of some of the employees forces me into a grin. PS: I'm sure your mom thinks the same thing. What was your favorite part of last week's mail sack? Noguchi's rage got undercut by an appearance from MC himself. PS: Cool story bro If you were the webmaster for the day what would you do? Break everything, realistically. PS: So basically you would be Stosh? What keeps you coming back to b.net? Bungie. Your mom. Dragons. You name it. PS: Stooping to your mom jokes I see? So unoriginal. Who's your favorite member here on b.net? I miss Rokit a lot, but here lately I'm particularly fond of Lobster Fish 2. PS: I'm way more fond of his girl friend. What would your avatar be if you were a forum ninja? The avatar I usually use. It's taken from the album art for Empire Theory by Tides of Man, one of my favorite albums ever. PS: Who is this hipster band you speak of? If you could have any colored text what would it be and why? A mid-range blue. A very calming tone. PS: So it would be like the sound of Morgan Freeman's voice? If you could change one thing about the mail sack what would it be? tl;drs for long-winded employees. I love these guys, but man do they draw out things. PS: Or you could just read it like a real man. T1B3R7uMB0YXVI: How would you describe the members of our community? I find it amusing in the Mythix Group. PS: I'm too cool for that group. What do you think of DeeJ's weekly mailsacks? "WHRE'S MAH QUESTZION DEEJ!?" PS: You mad bro? If you were the webmaster for the day what would you do? Drink and pee. PS: You would be a terrible webamster, It is a serious job that needs to be taken seriously. What keeps you coming back to b.net? The light; It's so bright! PS: I think you should stop staring into that flashlight. Who's your favorite member here on b.net? Qbix89, he's my brotha from another motha! PS: You just want to get in his pants. If you could change one thing about the mail sack what would it be? Needs drama from DeeJ (I meant like Urk as Dark Vader and DeeJ as Skywalker, on that particular scene where Vader proclaims that he's the father.) PS: Oh my gosh Star wars is the stupidest thing on the planet, The story sucks, everyone is swinging around their "boner beams" come on now. Let's watch something seriously awesome like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica. Kivell: If you were the webmaster for the day what would you do? 1) I would secretly hide yorkie's ability to sign his posts for the lols. 2) I would Ban all Mythics 3) Make drunk Bobcast post more 4) Allow all Bnet members to post pictures in threads. PS: Terrible Ideas 1) That is mean and crude you do not deserve to be webmaster 2) They earned those titles and we should praise them for it. 3)Just stupid 4) Worst Idea I have ever heard in my life.
Thank you guys for participating!

 •
What is your favorite memory from b.net?
The community went crazy during the Project Iris campaign. It was like a rush to unlock each archive. It was just awesome watching it all happen.
Is there anything you are hoping to accomplish here on b.net?
It's a long shot, but I imagine being a member of Bungie's community can hopefully inch me in the door when the time comes for me to go job hunting. I've always wanted to work there, so why not hang out here with people that love the same company?
What are you being for Halloween and will you post a picture?
I will be hanging out backstage with a rock band, then watching them perform live (and no, it's not a hipster band like I mentioned last week lol, they've got +1 million fans and tour internationally). I'll post a pic once I get back, if I'm not too tired. Someone PM me to remind me.
What are you hoping to see in bungie.next?
Moar blue flames.
Is there anything you would like to see in our next Community Wednesday?
Moar blue flames.
Do you think you could take on Jerome?
On a fancy dinner, sure.
How would you rate yourself as a member (1 being horrible 10 being amazing)?
5 or 6. EDIT: As promised, a picture of me and Derek Sanders, singer of Mayday Parade. [Edited on 10.31.2012 10:57 PM PDT]

 • Still a great read!
What is your favorite memory from b.net?
The few minutes that Bungie was giving out early Reach Beta codes were hilarious! I don't think there has ever been that kind of hysteria here before and I remember being so excited that I got one.
Is there anything you are hoping to accomplish here on b.net?
From what I said earlier today: "My ultimate goal here is to get to that point where someone sees my name and thinks 'Hey, I know him. Let's see what he has to say.' Will that ever happen? Most likely not but I'm happy to have picked up that kind of attitude toward several people here."
What are you being for Halloween and will you post a picture?
An assassin from the 18th century running around in New England. I don't do Halloween so new games will consume my night.
What are you hoping to see in bungie.next?
Me.
Is there anything you would like to see in our next Community Wedneaday?
Pictures of people costumes!
Do you think you could take on Jerome?
Our names are almost identical so I think it'd be about even but I'd probably let him win because it would ruin the legacy.
How would you rate yourself as a member (1 being horrible 10 being amazing)?
I don't think I can answer that. This is a question someone must answer for me because I am extremely bias.

 • 1. My favourite memory of B.net was joining my first private group. It's since been disbanded, but it was great to feel part of a little niche on B.net. 2. I want to be reasonably well-recognized (for good reasons, of course) and respected. 3. Nothing, unfortunately. I've got things to do tonight that don't include dressing up. 4. I'd personally like to see a messaging system similar to the mobile app, where a history of the messages is kept and can all be viewed simultaneously. 5. Nope, keep up the good work! 6. Not at all. I'd like to try and keep my face intact. 7. I'd rate myself a 7. I feel there are things I can do improve, but feel overall I'm a decent member.
