What could actually be more terrible than a galaxy destroying infection that has destroyed more than 2 godlike civilizations, which is also unstoppable.
343 says that halo 4 introduces a new enemy that is stronger than we anything weve seen. How come ? I cant even imagine anything more terrible then it.
And, as a note, can anyone please provide me a source stating that the flood wont be in halo 4 campaign ? Its hard to believe that 343 took the most important thing in halo universe and threw it away.

1. I don't think anything could be more terrible. 2. It isn't unstoppable if ancient humanity found a cure against the Flood. 3. Halo 3 canon showed the Halo Array activated and the Flood would've been starved to death by that.

Super-Flood.

The Flood in full form.

Ancient humans were being tested and we passed by saying -blam!- that, we'll throw 2/3rd of our pop at you with what we think will stop you!
And, as a note, can anyone please provide me a source stating that the flood wont be in halo 4 campaign ? Its hard to believe that 343 took the most important thing in halo universe and threw it away.
Just because the Flood doesn't appear in 1 game, that doesn't mean that they "threw it away". Gravemind's dialogue in Halo 3 and Primordium's ending makes it crystal clear that the Flood will return eventually. It just so happens that the Flood are not the focus of Halo 4, like with ODST and Reach.
Posted by: AJF1177 They already revealed the ancient evil.
No they haven't. Every time they mention the Didact, or the Forerunners, they've always been kept seperate from the "ancient evil". The Didact himself is neither ancient, nor evil - he's just morally conflicted, the same as most characters in the Halo universe. [Edited on 10.12.2012 9:08 AM PDT]

Wasn't the cure not destroyed, along with all knowledge of how to create it? Thus the flood didn't adapt, it merely had nothing to hold it back again.

I'd say the Flood Forum, but that's still an infection form.

You know what? I'm surprised someone hasn't said any of the Halo games. Not that they're bad. Just saying that I thought at least one person would've done it. inb4Halo4 inb4anyotherHalogame.

Do you mean in the Haloverse or fiction in general? If it's the latter, then trust me, there's plenty worse than the Flood in other fictional universes.

Its big....Its bad...Its more powerful than the flood....YOUR MOM EDIT: that was very immature of me, i forgot im Honorable now... [Edited on 10.13.2012 8:10 PM PDT]

The attemted cure itself never worked.

And they haven't kept it separate all the time from the Forerunners. It seems pretty obvious that they implied that Didact was the Evil because of how they displayed the "An Ancient Evil Returns" quote with Didact's inverted symbol in the backround, as well as hearing his voice. And hundreds of thousands of years isn't ancient?? [Edited on 10.13.2012 12:52 PM PDT]

2 Floods.

The Flood and the Zerg working together. Together, they can destroy multiple galaxies.

Ancient humans were being tested on how willing they were sacrifice their own people in order to try and stop the flood.

The Flood forum.
-
The Necromorphs from Dead Space, Blacklight from Prototype, damn near anything from the DCverse and Marvelverse... In the Haloverse, the Forerunners and presumably Precursors would be a much more dangerous enemy.
-
Flood 2.0. Just you wait. Halo 7-9 following the new new trilogy of Chief will fight this anciently new upgradable fungus.
-
That makes me think; what if the Flood was running away from something in the first place?
