I'm loving it at the moment. If you're planning on getting it, I suggest you start out on Hard difficulty; it seems like it would be a tad too easy otherwise. For the first 3 hours it's been great though; what do you guys think?

it's not out until the 12th here :(
Posted by: burritosenior I'm going for the 'no kills' and 'no powers or enhancements other than blink' achievements. SO HARD. But the achievement that really gets me? Don't alert any enemies after the prologue. I just got to a huge plottwist implying I'm probably at least halfway through the game (8 hours in, at least) and I have yet to do a mission without an enemy seeing me at some point. >.<
Yeah, I chose Hard difficulty for my first time. I'll finish it, then go through it on Brutal, and then go for the no kills achievement. Looks like I'll need to play through at least 5 or 6 times for every achievement. No complaints here! Out of curiosity, any idea how the kills affect the outcome? I know it says it will be "darker" but that could mean a lot of things.

I got it on Steam, got to play it a bit earlier than the rest o' y'all. However, I must say, in all the nearly 12 hours I've played it thus far, it's been fun. I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to see where it goes. It's a great game. I'd recommend it.
Posted by: burritosenior This game is OUTSTANDING. My GOTY I think. Everybody should buy it. Not only because it is an OUTSTANDING game, but to show developers we'll support new ideas instead of being blind followers of old series like CoD or Halo, a fan of which though I am. If you buy this, you're saving the gaming industry.
Yeah, I've thoroughly enjoyed the first 7 hours. I've also been completing every possible side mission, because they're really detailed and interesting. Loving this game!
Posted by: ICanHazRecon911
Posted by: swvjdirector the AI gets smarter on the higher difficulties, which is pretty cool.
Holy -blam!- are you serious? What sort of differences in intelligence have you noticed?
They're a lot more perceptive when you're trying to sneak past them, they find bodies more easily, and they have better search patterns when looking for you. They also won't give up so easily when they know you're there. In combat they'll surround you, etc.

Already paid it off at Gamestop but won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow. I'm still playing Borderlands 2 so I have no idea how I'm going to find the time to play it.

It looks like a -blam!- PS2 game.

Probably in a few years. I've got other games on my agenda right now. BL2, Halo 4, Blops 2, and minecraft.

I did. Gonna play a little tonight.

I think I'll get it when I have a bit more free time from school.
Posted by: l Supertramp l
Posted by: AUHSOJ NEDROM
Posted by: Kat_Ana What's the basic plotline? I haven't been following it, lol.
This and how good is the story so far
Basically, you were a body guard of this queen, but are accused of her death. You get these powers and use them to get vengeance.
More or less. As I already said, it's kind of like Burn Notice, with you picking apart an organization that has burned (or in this case, dishonored) you.
Posted by: M4L1K jr
Posted by: swvjdirector
Posted by: AH4L The overall feedback I'm seeing is very good for it. I'll probably pick it up... might wait to get it used.
It's definitely worth playing (at least the first 5 1/2 hours so far, anyway).
Is the story engaging? Music any good? Recommended difficulty?
Story is pretty good so far; rather like Michael from Burn Notice destroying the group that burned him, if that means anything to you. The music is really nice; it gives you good audio cues when you're spotted or being searched for, like Splinter Cell or Thief. I'd say you should start it on Hard; I think it would be a little too easy on lower difiiculties, and the AI gets smarter on the higher difficulties, which is pretty cool.
Posted by: OneDeadCaveMan Does it have any RPG elements? If so what?

Posted by: OneDeadCaveMan Does it have any RPG elements? If so what?
Depends on how you define "RPG elements". If you view that as very deep character choice and progression (The Witcher 2) then no. However, there is a system in which you collect Whalebones, which allow you to earn small bonuses (increased health, faster movement speed with weapons drawn, and more interesting effects). You're rewarded for exploration and can have a limited number of whalebones equipped at once. Runes are also found; they're used to purchase and upgrade new powers (teleportation, possession, seeing through walls).

I did alright in BC2, but I'm still much better with a controller. I suppose it doesn't matter since I never play any higher than Normal, but I still like to be able to play it fluidly.
