....can anybody bother explaining this to me? What I am fixing to say might be controversial. I do not support any type of war, thus how exactly can I support troops? In the military they break down your individuality and mold you to become one of them, ending your critical thinking and brainwashing you to whatever they need you to be, to fight in some pointless war that makes no sense. Why would I support the brainless indoctrination of thousands of people? I have respect for people in the military, I mean it's not easy choosing a career like that, and no doubt the conditions are tough and you could put your life at risk. I feel sad when I see soldiers funerals and stuff. I just simply...don't support what they do, at all. I do not support the war, and they are contributing to it, therefore I do not support them. Living in south texas this opinion is obviously very frowned upon. Just wondering if some of you see my point?

It means that you should respect the people who are fighting a war that they didn't start, and aren't there killing people out of choice (They signed up to protect their country) But Don't respect the politicians who start a war, for whatever reason, despite never having experienced that hell. If you have a leader that has been to war then the chances are he'll never go to war unnecessarily, because he wont put his troops through it for something petty like money, but when theres a real reason to go to war, when diplomacy and appeasement don't work these leaders, who were once soldiers know they have to do it (Which is why Winston Chuchill was against, Neville Chamberlane's Appeasment policy for hitler, if we took him out early, WWII would never have happened)

[/quote]Yea, it's statements like that that really piss me off, especially since I was in the Army. I came out with my morals and my critical thinking intact. OP, I came in this thread expecting something supportive, not this garbage. You should be ashamed of yourself. Supporting the troops, not the war means hoping our service men and women come home safely. Any human being should feel that way. If you can't at least hope for our people to come home safe, then you are no better than those wretches at the Westboro Baptist Church.

It means "I love the troops, but not the war they're fighting in." I agree with that. I love our boys. I don't see the point of being in Afghanistan, it's a waste of American lives. Afghanistan can't even hurt us. Are thousands of American soldiers worth democracy in a country which doesn't even matter to most of us? It doesn't seem rational to me. We should just pull out of that entire region, pull out all of our embassies and just get the heck out of there.

I haven't quite finished my MEPS physical but i am almost done. They haven't been to skeptical of it, but im sure like you said it should be at the swear in. It ain't about going over and shoving 55 grains of -blam!- you in someone's head, it's about going there and supporting each other so the body count stays low....if any at all. Defend your team and yourself first. Keep that mentality and you'll be fine, if you do join the Marines be aware that they will try to make you as thick skinned as possible....it's required since obviously Marines see the harshest parts of combat and they don't want people freezing up on them.
