Weirdest pre-game speculation you've heard of?
As for me, I remember way back earlier in Reach forums when people were discussing the time travel theory: A theory that linked the Halo 3 legendary ending to him possibly traveling back in to planet reach during the fall.

For example: The Heavy in Team Fortress 2 moves slower than the Scout, at all times. Armor Abilities did not do these things.

The speculation started all because of that banner in the Reach forum, except the characters were blacked out. People started assuming that Reach would be like TF2 and such with a Sniper class, Heavy class, etc. I actually believed it.

Halo 2 would have 164 player games. As ridiculous as that sounds. It was a rumor that gained a lot of momentum

The GRD Helmet theories were mad hilarious. Teams of 7 simultaneously killing each other with plasma grenades while going up the air lifts on Countdown just to unlock a Helmet that didn't exist to begin with.

Oh, I remember someone said that Master Chief was travelling back in time to CE at some point. This was because of the [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7wU1fpDYvQ]Two Betrayals Cutscene[/url]where 343GS says to the Chief, "Why would you hesitate to do what you have already done?" and "Last time, you asked me, if it were my choice, would I do it? Having had considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed." So the guy was saying that the MC had travelled back in time to that mission again. Pretty crazy...

People had so many detailed theories, great ideas, a few idiots here and there but I loved it. After the game it all went down, and I still miss those days :/
