About The Thursday war book.

So I just got to the part of the book where Parangosky is talking to Hood and he knows that Halsey is still alive? And he agrees with her?! The Faqk!? The hell Hood sent sent Blue team to onxy because Halsey said that there was Forerunner tech and he got a lot more then anyone could have wished for. What do you think of this verse?
All books have there own problems, but too many people have been overreacting to the Kilo-Five trilogy. I'm still trying to figure out just why it's near universally hated, and so many people will default to saying Halo canon is ruined forever that you'd think I've gotten an indisputable explanation by now. But I haven't. ^^The extended lore has made it pretty clear that the overarchng villain is the Precursors, making Didact only a temporary villain for Halo 4. [Edited on 10.17.2012 4:33 AM PDT]

Halo was never about any one thing, that's the beauty of the series, it has so much depth and little side-paths and plots everywhere. The only point of Halo is telling a compelling story and nothing else.

 • -Spoiler Alert- I don't think the kilo-five trilogy makes any sense at all. at the end of Ghost of Onyx, Blue team welcomes in the Spartan III's yet in Glasslands they don't work as a team at all. Halsey says that she wants to help the 3's but in Glasslands she just underminds them and says how they arn't as good as her II's. in Thursday War, Parengosky basically imprisons Halsey yet she new what she was doing with the Spartan Program since it was ONI who asked her to join! but the most irritating part of these books from Travis is the amount of profanity used, i think in one page of hers has more profanity in it then the original 6 Halo novels. over 800 pages between the books and all you really need to know is Jul creates the storm faction and is heading to Reqruim to awake the Didact/Ur-Didact.(not sure which yet).

 • I don't know why Hood would take Margaret's side. Personally, I almost hate Parangosky. As for how good the book is, I haven't read it fully yet. The main reason i got it was to find out what happened to the Arbiter after Halo 3. I do plan on actually reading it though.

 •
Posted by: OrderedComa
Posted by: Darthbill99 Halsey did create those clones without permission. That's misuse of resources, and doing something highly illegal an unethical with them, even if the whole project was like that, at least she was authorized to do the rest of it. I honestly like the book so far.
BULL--blam!---blam!-!!!!!!!!! The flash clones were ALWAYS part of the plan, the only place this is at all changed is in Karen Traviss' pile of fething nonesense, the woman did not do any research ever and knows nothing of the actual Halo lore. And even if they weren't cleared by Parangosky, the little old hag still has no right to complain about anything whatsoever because even as much as she thinks she is, she really isn't the law and end all and be all of the UNSC and highest authority there is, nor was she the only one in charge of the Spartan Project, Parangosky was one small cog in the whole process. The flash-cloning of 75+ kids and then dispersing them to their homes is not something that'd be able to be kept a secret and is absolutely not, and never was, something Halsey did in secret and all on her own. And you know what, the Spartan Project wasn't even Halsey's brainchild either, that was ONI's, they were the ones who came up with the idea after the Orion Project was deemed a failure and discontinued, they were the ones who approached Halsey about heading up the project and managing it, they were the ones who outlined the general plan (kidnapping kids, replacing them with flash-clones to prevent anyone wising up to the mass disappearance, training them, gathering the materials for armor and augmentations, etc.) and everything else. Hah! Hahahahahahabahabahahahoohooheheheehee....whoo-boy, you're a scream, ya know that? What military vessel? Oh, you mean that glorified luxury shuttle the leader of Insurrectionist faction had? Hah! Since when has that ever been a "military vessel" or something that the UNSC owned, hmmm? That was the rebels and who Halsey stole it from. And no, she is not being held illegally against her will as a slave because she took Kelly to Onyx (need I also mention that the Spartans have NEVER -blam!-. BEEN. BLOODY. UNSC. PROPERTY at. all!!!!!! ....do you want me to -blam!- repeat myself??!?!?! The Spartans have never been "owned" by the UNSC or ONI, they are personnel of the UNSC and that is only and always how they have been treated, and only that, they are not slaves or mindless robots), she's being illegally held without trial and being forced into slave labor and having every single human right on the book violated by ONI because Parangosky (Traviss' blessed little Mary-Sue saint who's never done a single thing wrong) is petty, vindictive, little -blam!- who's holding a grudge and doing it for -blam!-z and giggles because she apparently didn't know about the flash-clones (which I already proved is frakking nonesense) and is now exercising her pettiness. And no, Hood is a-okay with it because Karen Travissty does not understand one single thing about the Halo lore and is reshaping it into her own deranged image and making Lord Hood a little docile and submissive lapdog just so she can have her little Mary-Sues do whatever she thinks is right and so she can "punish" everyone who ever did wrong at all. Honestly, I think Karen Traviss should probably be fired and go back to writing original fiction (her style is good and from that sort of standpoint I enjoy Glasslands, the formula sort of stuff), or placed on the tightest leash imaginable and have her work proofread a thousand times over by someone who actually knows the lore and gives a damn about it.
lol, you mad bro? It's been a while since I read Onyx, and come to think of it you're right about the ship not being UNSC. She still kidnapped a Spartan, which I never implied was UNSC property, but is still undeniably military personel. It is also quite clear that she did not authorize the flash clones, due to how often she rages about it in her head. If she was lying about he lack of involvement she wouldn't be complaining about it to herself, but to other people. Also, who knows what she told Hood? Everything Halsey did was being solely monitored by ONI. She could have accused her and planted evidence of her blowing up an orphanage if she wanted to. [Edited on 10.03.2012 12:05 PM PDT]

 • I wouldn't be surprised if the story had Halsey go through a sex change and use a civilian variant of the MJOLNIR armour to hide herself from ONI while working in an underground Halo. All the while the Elites are pillanging and making humans their pet slaves in colony planets one by one. With CerberONI making a contingency plan to indoctrinate the Brute youths through free education and healthcare all the way up to university [Welcome to the good life] to pass around propaganda at the Elites. Meanwhile Master Chief has been cloned several times, as a safe measure agaisnt atheism that is prevalent during this galactic scientific age. The second coming of Christ is announced as Cheif returns to Earth after the apocalytic events of Halo 4,5 and 6, but this time, his armour upgrades are beyond MJOLNIR, they turn into this MANTIS MECH VII, this variant is 3000 ft tall. All must bow down to Master Jesus Cheif 117. In recognition of Halsey recent persecution she is seen in the same light as the Virgin Mary... turned man. Faith is finally restored. The Halo church gets busy and begins the new new testiment of greater great journey.

She's a huge grudge holder that has lived with near infinite political power nearly her whole adult life. And you're mad that she's acting on those traits. Makes sense. What also makes sense is you automatically assuming Hood has no reason. Stroke of genius right there.
When Ackerson openly mocked/bashed Halsey and the spartans (when they assumed they were all dead) Hood verbally -blam!-slapped Ackerson into place and defended both. She has never had "Near infinite political power" outside of ONI. Before glasslands she answered to the admiral board, not everybody answered to her. Parangosky is retarded because her ACTIONS ARE RETARDED.

 • This is basically what we see in every sci fi franchise. When the bad guys do it: "Bad, evil" When the good guys do it: "Cunning, intelligent" Referring to a lot of the events in the book, especially one that is so hypocritical looking back at the war you would think that ONI are mad war mongering fools.
