Bungie's next game should have a difficulty named "canon"

Where the armor is as strong as it's suppossed to be, where the weapons do the actual damage it should. Forget balence in this difficulty. If your dude is suppossed to run 30 mph, he does. discuss [Edited on 09.19.2012 11:12 AM PDT]

 • Personally I'm not a huge fan of of difficulties, I prefere being judged on how well I play, i.e beating Halo on Legendary would mean that one played exceptionally well, opposed to just somehow making it through the levels. So yes, I would like to see a canonical difficulty setting. Something similar to Realistic in the original Deus Ex (I always play on that mode). From what I've been able to piece together however, somthing tells me that Destiny may only have one setting. I'm basing it mostly on the rumors--backed up with some facts--of it being heavily focused on online and open world gameplay. But also cause I'm having a hard time figuring out what they'd call them now that Halo has departed with Heroic, Legenday, and Mythic.. Not that I actually doubt Bungies ability to come up with alternatives (hope someone opens up a thread about that), or just stick with them, there are after all a lot of games that share what they call their settings (Insane, Nightmare, Hell, etc). • This is without a doubt, one of the best ideas ever.

 • I really like the idea, but I'm not fully sure until I play a version where it's implemented. It really depends on if canonical gameplay has game breaking mechanics.

 • Heroic was the cannon setting for the halo games. You can tell because the damage ratio is the same as multiplayer. If you mean cannon as in storytelling mode, It would probably be too easy or hard without adjustments. [Edited on 09.20.2012 5:43 AM PDT]

 • As long as it is more difficult than the Halo Reach campaign on legendary, I'll be okay. Halo Reach was so easy it was boring.

Heroic is often cited as canon difficulty because of enemy intelligence. [Edited on 09.23.2012 12:32 PM PDT]

 • Canon difficulty? k, let's go take back the special MJOLNIR armor that Noble team has, since Spartan-IIIs weren't supposed to have as advanced armor as that before Reach came and merged the two concepts.

 • I just hope Bungie doesn't bash their canon as bad as George Lucas does.

The Barret 50 cal better be a one shot weapon no matter where you shoot them. If you get shot normally, you wouldn't be able to sprint at the lightning speed that they run at. And one stupid knife cut shouldn't kill anyone, IMO everytime you knife it should actually be an animation like the Halo Reach assassination if it is a one knife kill move.

 • Call of Duty? Canon difficulty? okay. Bring back nonregenerative health, include crippled limb stuff from Fallout, include food and drink meter, include realistic inventory, include character "stress meter"/mental state, include different manual treatments for different wounds, include gun jams, include gun inaccuracies and real ballistics, include stamina, include command system for squad, take out killstreaks, take out instantly-deploying turrets, take out perks, increase reload times substantially... Or get Arma II :) OT: This feature should be unlocked after one playthrough or satisfying some requirements, methinks. [Edited on 10.01.2012 12:14 AM PDT]

 • That would be a great idea, in one sense it would be perfect! But they're could be limits to the potential due to game mechanics etc. Maybe it could be included in a future game as a sub-Campaign option, maybe even a Skull.
