Wireless Network Help
I have a wireless network in my home. The main computer is downstairs and my laptop is in the network. How do I go about getting the files on my laptop to the files on my main computer?

I don't know why but it just doesn't work. Is there any way I could use some sort of USB cable, firewire, or something to just directly link my laptop and computer to transfer files?

My Computer > My Network Places > This is where each computer has their own shared folder. If no folders appear, the shared folder wizard has not been setup. To do so... From the window you are in click Setup a Home or Small Office Network Follow the wizard. You should have a shared folder after restart. Copy any information you want to share and paste it into the folder. The contents will be available to all computers on the network.

I must not have set up my network connection right. Nothing shows up in my network places. How do I set it up right. I'm good with everything but networking when it comes to computers. You all do realize that most computers don't come with floppy drives anymore right. [Edited on 9/11/2005]

Holly Freakin Frijoles! Floppies? Whats the point of floppies in a network!! This is the first time I have the urge to say the "n" word in here.. If you're in a network, and chances are you're probably using XP, Open windows Explorer. On the left you'll have listed all the locations on your laptop (Desktop, My Documents..) Look for My Network Places, could say something different, I'm used to the best version of Windows (2000 Pro) When you open that, you'll go through a few folders untill you get to see all the computers in the network. Each computer should have a specific name IF the Network was set up properly. Find the computer you're looking for and open C: or any folder to take your files. Once inside the main PC, open another Windows Explorer (its easier for you like this) on your laptop and find the files you want to send. Now just drag them into whatever location on the main pc that you chose [Edited on 9/11/2005]

There probably is, but I have no -blam!- clue on how it works. Floppy requires no real knowledge, so I'd go with that. . . . . .unless you want to take the time to LEARN about the tranfer wizard

Well if you want a kind of simple way to transfer files, you could use a floppy.
