Lazer's easy 10-step guide to being cool on the b.net forums!

Step 10: Have a good screen name Simply put, nobody likes a name with any drug or sex-related names. Original names are often the ones that get noticed. Step 9: Say something nice about members Everybody likes getting a compliment! Trust me, users will remember who was a jerk and who isn't. Step 8: If you can't say something nice, offer criticisms Offten, if you suggest help, that user will start making better threads, and remember you as a nice member. Step 7: USE CAPSLOCK SPARINGLY Often, nobody takes an All-capital thread seriously. Step 6: Keep your cool If someone responds to your thread filled with, "FU", calmly ask them what is wrong and apologise if you have unintentionally offended them. Step 5: Join a group A good way to keep in touch with your buddies is through a group. Plus, (if you aren't ALREADY a ninja) you get to edit the group forums if you are one of the higher members. Step 4: No bumping If you have a sinking thread, suck it up. The topic has grown old. And the torch is passed. Step 3: No topics named, OMG! or WTF? That tells you absolutely nothing about the post, but it can be used with other words like, "OMG! this is the funniest link ever!" Step 2: Avoid using foul language Nobody likes it when Budsmoka69 replies, "Yo, Who cares about halo home-dawgs? Everybody on these [censored]'ing forums can suck my [censored]." Step 1: For god's sake, do NOT spam! Spam has to be the worst thing you can do to become "cool", in fact, if you spam, you are not "cool", you are and attention whore and a jerk. Be cool everybody! Edit: Step -1: don't use a bajillion exclamation marks in your topic! That just pushes the forum screen farther apart, and makes it harder to read. [Edited on 9/1/2005]

Edit: Step -1: don't use a bajillion exclamation marks in your topic! That just pushes the forum screen farther apart, and makes it harder to read.
10.nah people LUV to see names like "MOTHA FUKAXLXA" or "DOPEPOOPY101" .... original? good luck on these forums.... 9.yep... unfortunatley MOST people dont deseve those compliments.... plus then you come out like a -blam!- and sometimes get flamed by jackasses.... 8.saying something nice is always appreciated and helping someone is a must but you ALways have to add a lil criticsisim... or they wont respect you... 7.Caps lock is a PERFECT way to show anger.... and only SLIGHTLY diminishes your chances of appearing smart... best used for flaming... 6.i find it better to flame them to hell.... or just something simple such as: "-blam!- off and drop some balls -blam!-." 5.or spam and flame andcurse and caps all you want without getting punished.... or be good until ur a mod and delete everything... and ban everyone.... and clame the group as your own... 4.but bumping is good for the soul... and it helps keeps good topics alive... FOR EXAMPLE:"OMG!DATGUYWASTASUXORZ!" or "WHEN WILL HALO3 BE OUT?" or the popular "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEREE TO GET A MOD CHIP?" or the extremely popular " ****NEW**** Ascension SUPER BOUNCE!!!"...... or the idol topic: "WHO LIKES CHEESE?" ... OH BUT WAIT! the godfather of alllll COOOL thread topics: "AM I KOOL!" 3.but that keeps the forums WILD and spontanius and intresting.... FOR EXAMPLE: instead of naming a thread: "my xbox keeps failing to load map???*HELP*" name it: "MYCRAPPYXBOXSTRIKESAGAIN!" and ALLL WILL LOVE you for your wittiness... 2.oh but thats what the blam systm is for -blam!-... and "suck my dick." is the official tell off of these forums... HOW COULD YOU NOT USE THE OFFICIAL TELL OFF OF THE FORUM YOUR POSTING IN?!?!?!?! 1. BUT SPAm is what MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND! without spam people wouldnt be pounding their laptops in frustration over their email taking forever to load because of spam... and thereforee the computer selling peoplee would go out of buisnes. and without spam on a forum there would be o one for the members of a forum to untie against and therefore fall apart and FAIL. -1.but when a topic is named " plz help me!" no one will read it because it doesnt appear important... BUT if you name it "HELP MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" you get thousands of replies.... (see tip #1) --1. you also forgot spelling bad makes you cool... FOR EXAMPLE: inmstead of saying: "dude can you please help me with this?" you say "dudee hlp me wit tis -blam!-." ---1. AND NOT TO MENTION MAKING STUPID THREADS LIKE THIS! (see tip #1) [Edited on 9/2/2005]

 •
Posted by: DvS1 i think the "best way" to be "cool" is just be urself and dont be ignorant. U dont have to be nice or mean, just say something somewhat bright and u should do fine. 10 rules on forums R O F L C O P T E R u shouldnt really make guidelines for a forum (except rules of course spam flaming etc) bc the whole point of a forum (especially an off topic forum) is fo open discussions and being able to say what u want, ya dig?
Exactly, but ppl need a reminder or two once and a while.
