New Consoles Configuration....

Well here's the deal: The XBox 360 has one Ethernet port, The Revolution also has one ethernet port. That leaves the PS3. It has 3 Ethernet ports -- one labeled "Input" and two labeled "Output" Does this mean that I can hook up my Revolution and XBox 360 to the Outputs on the PS3 and save the cost of a router? Or is it just going to be a built in Hub?

  • I dunno. Interesting question, though. It'd be kind of cool, but that would lead to more wires... And my PC/TV area is already a jungle. And I don't feel like cleaning it up. Looks nice.

  • I thought I heard the same question somewhere on Gamespot or Penny Arcade Forums. I wish I knew 'cause that's a very damn good question right there.

  • If it is it would simplify my connectivity quite a bit. The Wi-Fi dongles are expensive, and the Router probably is too... I wanna see some more information on this... I would ask the question on a Sony forum, but I'm afraid of the flames that would ensue -- and how bad I'll flame back.

  • I already have a wireless router so I think the built in Wifi is awesome. Sweet sweet wireless networls I'm telling you folks that wireless is really worth the money, if you got the money.

  • Heh, damn. That'd be a kickass feature. Console with a built-in router... I'm w00ting to that.

  • Sony wouldn't do that - the PS3 space/drive is about equivalent to today's Xbox. A router would seem...surprising. I have a George Foreman grill.

  • I remember hearing something about the PS3 hooking up to more then one t.v. and the ability to have more than four people on one console. Don't know if it's true, but if it is than that might explain having three port thingy's.

But PS3 supposedly will support up to 7 playas while running on 2 TVs. That's hella-tight! Jim, no idea, but flames would ensue if you brought this up on a Sony fourm. Let me know how that goes. Hard to say at this point since we really do not have the specifics on that part of the machine. Did you read that article today about how the PS3 is not designed as a gaming console? Interesting stuff.

I can't stop laughing. Ask around on the GameSpy forums. There are alot of knowlegable people there. I thought the PS3 was a George Foreman grill...

I used to have it in my signature as a link to the $500 George Foreman grill yesterday. Maybe I should put it back in . . .

  • I don't know but i'm guessing it would just be for the PS3. I don't think it would work as a router.
