There are about 50 avatars, right? That means a lot of people will be using the same avatar. Now isnt an avatar suppose to show others its [b]you[/b] who's talking? That would mean it should be unique. How about being able to use (or submit) your own avatar here on Bungie?

The Bungie avatars are getting annoying.

I know right now there aren't very many, but if you read the [url=http://www.bungie.net/News/Story.aspx?link=56BF983B-9CFB-488D-82A0-83DFC8E46CC8]avatar news story[/url] the Sketch released, you will see that eventually we will be able to submit avatars to be used the same way we can submit themes. This will greatly expand the library of avatars!

Speaking of themes, I know many submitted themes so they could be used in the new Bungie.net, but there aren't any new (yet).

Ultimately, some people should probably get their own avatar. I have my persolal logo that I thing would be a sweet avatar. I would think that certain individuals could have their own, like big chapter founders and common, respected posters. That way, you don't see one avatar and think "Big respected guy" when it's really John Doe no name.

Only mods and Bungie folks get their own avatars. It would be wrong to play favorites to big chapter founders or really active members. I think that the avatar problem will slowly fade away as new avatars are added.

You mean you don't feel like you deserve your own MSXL avatar? I think you do, and I'm sure others think so too. Some people deserve their own avatar. Maybe they could just have avatars for chapters or something. Or maybe have an avatar that can display text over it, like MSXL over the fishy thing. That would be awesome.

i think all chapter founders deserve a nice unique avatar of there own, you know a nice add for their chapter.

Um..... No. Anyone can get a chapter. Hell, I'd create a chapter just to have an avatar, and if I'd do it, others would too. Only difference is, my chapter would rock. I see people who disband their chapter to start over. What kind of strategy is that? They are lazy and don't want to work for it. I'd create a chapter myself but I'm a little busy with life rigth now. Life sucks.

The problem is managing them. First, if we let you link to them externally, you could easily break our site. So, that won't fly. If we allowed users to upload them - well, that bring a whole host of bad problems. So, what we're going to do is eventually set up a way where you can submit new avatars and we'll add them to the list of possible suggestions periodically (like the 7th Column Themes). One thing that won't happen is custom avatars (an avatar that only you can have). Only special people will get that (bungie people and a few others, mostly moderators and VIPs). However, it is not out of the realm of possibility that we create "classes" of avatars. For example, we could make it so certain avatars are only available if your account was a certain age. Don't worry, we'd never tie anything to total posts. Or, maybe we'll think of something else for fanclubs when they get the "new hotness" treatment. Maybe I've even already thought of a few things that I'm not telling you about. With me, you never know. Plausible deniability is key.

That's crap how we have to send in our avatars, I want to be the only person using my avatar, people would see my avatar and start using it and that would annoy me greatly. Guess I'll have to keep this crappy drawing of ??????? here instead.
