Priority Tagging / Priority Sort

First, I'd like to thank App L Sawz for the inspiration for this thread. To start, App's initial point was thus: People are using multiple official/popular hashtags (#gaming, #bungie, #offtopic, #Flood, #Comunity, Etc.) all in the same thread instead of trying to differentiate. This is causing a search under #gaming to yield the same results as #community despite very different posts. App's suggested response is smart: Add Categories or rather force a specific "official tag" upon the post. Running with this idea, what if a tag could be set with priority. Currently we can sort the forum under a given tag by latest, popularity, and debated. What if another sorting parameter, priority, was added? What do I mean by this? If you check one hashtag as prioritized, it will make the topic be sorted higher than the other hashtags in a given sort. So, if I search #gaming and hit priority sort, those threads with #gaming prioritized will come to the top. If my thread contains #gaming, but is prioritized under #community, it won't appear under a priority search (or it could appear but just not at the top of the list). Allowing for only one prioritized sorting tag would be imperative in this situation. This would allow for the current system of multiple tags (including official tags) while simultaneously allowing for the return of a more structured subforum system (in my opinion). Obviously you'll still see people misuse the priority tagging, but thats just going to come with the territory of #hashtags.
