There isn't enough space dedicated for the forums, the big black blank thing on the right takes up half the damn screen. This layout needs alot of work done to it...

*misses old layout*
-
Well about 9 years from this topic Bungie did change the layout.
-
This forum software wasn't made by Bungie, it was made by Ideal Science, the link is underneath this. There is nothing wrong with phpBB, I have seen a forum made with phpBB, come from a standard forum that was just normal and it had a huge upgrade and is now probably one of the best forums on the web. phpBB is way better then this it doesn't have the huge border (that is probably just the site layout however) you have more options, it is set out better, you can easily download updates, patches, themes and plugins for it, it uses standard BB code instead of some of this weird stuff they got going here, it has better profile options that allow instantly adding people to contact list in msn, aim etc. It is more user friendly and most people use phpBB so more people are used to it and know how to use it.

Yes, these forums do need to be a bit wider, but I think the forum software is just like Bungie -- simple and efficient. I don't think they should change a thing, I think they already did an awesome job redesigning the site. After a while, the site loads in an instant -- you just have to visit it more then once, which I think is the whole objective Bungie is trying to reach. phpBB starts to stink when you have more then 20,000 members, and you can't really add on it like Bungie is -- Where you log in at one portion of bungie's site, and you are automatically signed in with the rest, including XBLive stats. Invision is just a pain in the ass. And vB is... well $$$. Another thing -- this server is run by Microsoft, so ASP is the programming language of choice, not PHP or CGI.

[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Pyroteq I dunno, maybe there was just an error at the time cuz I posted a reply in a this thread and it was still about 5 threads down. Maybe just a bug. But seriously, you HAVE to get rid of that huge black border.[/quote]Maybe four other people made replies to four other threads right after you made your reply. It is so active in here right now I'd believe it. And that black space has to go and the "You have messages" needs to come back. I have no way of knowing.

But seriously, you HAVE to get rid of that huge black border. Also that Bungie thing up the top is a big waste of space, I think the designer has focused way too much on that techy complicated feel to the site instead of it being much more user friendly.

Achronos, do you plan on posting the bug reporting e-mail on this forum? I think it should be at the top of the page for everyone to see! =)
-
you tell em! there was i guy down here who called me a -blam!-! *weep, why? isn't there anyone who loves me? is there any one who cares about just another fan?
-
What are you talking about? The topic listing orders by Pinned Topics first, then sorts by Last Posted date. It doesn't update "instantaneously", it takes a few seconds. But it does work as expected. This forum software is very robust, scalable, and well-designed. There are a few bugs, but that is because it is a version 1 product, and this is the very first site to use it. I ask that you would refrain from saying things like "This is -blam!-
". We want to hear your bug reports and comments, but I'm going to start deleting any crap like that. Admittedly, I do want to use the admin tools against the first "jerk" in the forums. But don't be that guy. You seem to have well-formed opinions about the forums - don't taint yourself with comments like "This is -blam!-." [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Pyroteq Oh my god you have got to be kidding, when I replied to this, this thread didn't go to the top of the page. You know how much that sucks? Looking for a discussion is going to be made near impossible unless this forum software is switched.[/quote] -
We're all spoiled. I, myself, probably wouldn't be complaining so much if I didn't have 2 papers due this week. I've been very irritable lately, and not in a very good mood. [irritable outburst]Don't judge me you giant ass![/outburst] Sorry.
-
Poor Bungie. They try to make something good and everyone complains. Oh well. That's what they want us to do so they can make it better. MAKE IT BETTER!
-
[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Pyroteq -blam!- there is like 10 topics per page wtf.[/quote] You can express your opinion, but do so politely. This is a new system. Make suggestions about what you don't like. Bungie listens.

[i]"Oh my god you have got to be kidding, when I replied to this, this thread didn't go to the top of the page. You know how much that sucks? The thread gets bumped to the top of the page but stays below the sticky.
-
Yea they still need to change some things in the forums.
-
-blam!- there is like 10 topics per page wtf.
-
ah crap! i just switched to 600x800! i can abrely read stuff, everything is in the way!
-
Sif I want to change my screen resolution to 800X600, this monitor is freakin huge and switching to 800X600 is the lowest this card goes and makes icons too big.
-
yup, i just want the damn logo smaller, it's eating up too much space. No, now it's eating me!!!!!!!!!
-
Most people use 1024x786, but when creating a website you try to make it for all kinda resolutions! THAT they have forgotten here.
-
1. The site is made for 800x600 Resolution, so get used to it! There's nothing wrong with the layout... IT's not that big of a deal anyway.... [b][[/b] Posted by: "The Rip Saw" at 5:24:14 AM on 4/13/2004[b] ][/b] "[i] just switched to 800 width. Apart from feeling like I'm going to puke from the low rez and everything being so huge, it looks great. Now if only they'd make it for 1024 or 1280...[/i]" That wouldn't work for me, it'd only hinder me when I work on my site.

[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Pyroteq I'm kinda dissapointed, this forum software is very very weak, you guys should use PHPBB or Invision Power Board, this one is kinda crappy and the tool bar thing takes ages to load on BroadBand.[/quote]Wierd thing there. On my 56k, it takes about 10 times longer than it did. On this T3, it actually loads faster! Weird. And there needs to be a chronological viewing option, or most recent post. Also, more posts per page option would be nice. And bring back the indenting. Keep what we loved from the original. [Edited on 4/13/2004 5:49:18 AM]

Yea I'm also a little dissapointed in how this forum is workin. And YEA they should use PHPBB.

I'm kinda dissapointed, this forum software is very very weak, you guys should use PHPBB or Invision Power Board, this one is kinda crappy and the tool bar thing takes ages to load on BroadBand. And please let us use our own avatars or take them off all together, there is absolutely no point in having avatars when everyone is using the same one, plus they are all pixelated to hell.
-
I just switched to 800 width. Apart from feeling like I'm going to puke from the low rez and everything being so huge, it looks great. Now if only they'd make it for 1024 or 1280...

I agree, although, I wonder if people with 800x600 see the black background on the right.. Please tell dude that uses 800x600.
