Traveler Communication

I am very curious about the traveler. We know nothing about it. All we know is that its this MASSIVE orb hovering over The City. Apparently it saved humanity from extinction against aliens... HOW???? Did it just smash itself against Earth's surface? Did it shoot rockets? I have no idea! How does it communicate to us, if it communicates at all. Very curious about what you guys might think.

  • A literal read of the information released today suggests that it (the Traveler) was responsible for terraforming two planets of its own accord. (Until now, I think a lot of the community has believed that technology derived from the Traveler was responsible for the terraforming.) It was also being chased by a significantly-powerful enemy that penned it into a corner and wiped out most of the human race in the process - almost as if we were collateral damage. Under the circumstances, I'm not sure I want to know how it defended itself. It's like playing with fire.

    • Why speculate on something you won't get an answer to? You could relax, and then play the game and answer that question for yourself...

    • In my mind, there's a council or select group of people the Traveler talks to. Or, it could not communicate it all. Giving us silent aid. But, to give us all these gifts without saying a thing? I think that's unlikely. It could communicate like the Huragok in the Halo novels, by tapping into word processors and writing out its thoughts on a computer or data pad. Whatever it is, I hope we can talk to it at least once. That would be amazing.

    • We all ready know that the warlocks got there space magic from them so if you want to know how they communicate it might be through the warlocks as they have enhanced it magic and the way it protected them was because of he warlocks and the magic inside of it

All we can do is speculate. As it is, the Traveler seems to be in a form of hibernation wrought upon it from its previou expenditure of energy to keep humanity safe. Despite its efforts or thanks to them, rather, humanity still retains a single city. The Traveler need not communicate when we attribute it for the powers it grants us. Through this "Space Magic" I assume the Traveler is granting us the means to make our own "Destiny" if you will with the energy it has left rather than launching itself into its previously active state that would result in its destruction given its current energy levels. Regardless, this all speculation. Only the game can reveal the truth.

    • If I had to guess, I would say, judging by the "Space Magic" power granted by the Traveller, it could have released an energy shockwave from its position that goes right through Humans harmlessly, yet eviscerates Fallen, Hive, Vex, whatever was attacking at the time. And communication, judging by the Traveller's evident power, would most likely be telepathic. Obviously this is all speculation on my part, so I have an equal chance of being right or wrong.

    • I've been thinking about this too. With a the elements of this game in just the gameplay and customization and loot and stuff, we still have what is going to be quite possibly the deepest most intricate and intriguing storyline to date. I have no idea how The Traveler has managed to save the planet, but I can tell you I'm chomping at the bit to find out!

      • Reminds me of forerunner artifacts, but I'm guessing alot of destiny will be searching for the answer you want.
