So following the bad press from the community, Microsoft has changed the Xbox One's online policies to fit the cries of the public. What do you think, is this a Yay, or a Nay for Microsoft and the Xbox One.

I think they did a pendulum swing from one extreme to the other. Digital downloads were actually getting some pretty cool features. Right now, you can't do anything with digital downloads, so even limited sharing is a huge step for digital content. On the flip side, they were effectively getting rid of physical games. This is where the problem was. What they should have done from the get go was keep physical disks the same: requiring the disk to play, being able to sell/transfer games at will, etc. and just bring in the improvements for digital games. You'd effectively have DRM versions of games (digital), and [almost] DRM free versions (disks). Now, since Microsoft wants to move to a completely digital console, they should have made people prefer the new method, rather than remove the old method. They could have easily done this by having the digital downloads cost less than their physical counterparts. It would have been a win-win-win scenario.

Personally, I would like the original policies
-
I actually thought the original system was very steam-like and unique for a console.
-
I liked a lot of the features the DRM brought, but taking it out did benefit a lot of people so I guess I can deal with it.
-
Yay, but they still put me off buying the damn thing in the first place.
-
Nay. I preferred it the way it was now it just sucks... Well I guess I'll get it anyway but it would've been better if you could at least choose whether or not you wanna sign in after 24 hours on your console and one hour on someone else's console so you don't gotta stick your disc in the tray and so you could do Family Sharing... Jeez

We lost most of the software advantages or the DRM PLUS Destiny is online only so what are all your derps doing on bungie
-
Would have been so much better if they hadn't decided to have the DRM in the first place.
-
Nay. I'm a horse.

Yay and nay. Yay they removed it at last. Nay because of the reason. Microsoft can say they listened to the fans all they want. They didnt. If they had listened to us they would have removed it sooner. But no, they remove it after E3 because Sony ripped the absolute piss out i them
-
When was the last time any of us whent 24 hrs without an internet connection?
-

They took too long. They completely ignored people pleas and told them that they should all just get used to it. And then, AFTER E3, they said "Oh hey guys, look we're actually responding to you now." At that point they aren't even responding to their fans, they're just caving in to the oppression They're making too many mistakes, and they just have a poor show all around.

Edited by Winter Soldier: 7/4/2013 6:59:22 PMYay. Also #gaming.
-
Knowing myself and my internet stability etc, I'd say it would be better for me with the DRM, but I would still say that I'm very glad they decided to ditch it, because there are a whole lot of people who are not me.

I think XB1 should
#GAMING GOD -blam!-ING DAMN IT! THIS ISN'T THE GAMING SECTION OF THE FORUMS!
There is a lot of dislikes for the new Kinect. I am excited... Signing in from voice and facial recognition sounds pretty epic to me.

Edited by Cultmeister: 6/27/2013 2:46:34 PMit's still prohibitively expensive and they're still gonna spy on me wanking to Xbox IE porn. also; i'm sure they're going to try and wean DRM in over the next few years anyway, it isn't gone for good on the Addbox.

>Buying a playstation. >Doesn't care.

I really wish they didn't, but the sheep complainers about them made it so they had to. Most of those policies where actually pretty good, but loads of people just jumped on the of "OMG Micro$oft are screwing us!" band wagon.

I would have gladly pinged the Internet once a day to have the family sharing feature. Also not requiring a disk to be in the tray was also a bonus, but I was mainly stoked about the sharing.

OH LOOK, IM THE OP, A GIANT NEWFAG, WHO CANT USE THE SEARCH BUTTON.

The bad PR was stupid

Great. The fact is, people were against this immediately after the Xbox1 unveiling. Instead of changing it then, Microsoft arrogantly went into E3, did not even ADDRESS the topic of controversy, and announced their console at $500, expecting players to preorder despite the controversy. It wasn't until after the PS4 gave their price, and saw they were losing in ultimately every single poll out there, that they finally gave in. Sorry. I don't care they changed it anymore. PS4 won me over.

I think that it's just going to draw more people back to the Xbox. Not to sound weird or anything but I thought that with less people on, there would be more nice, quality gamers/people to play with. But ether or this is good for the company
