tl;dr skip to last paragraph The current version of this website you're using right now uses an [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_API]API[/url] referred to as the "Platform" which allows you to browse and post to the forums, check your stats, and so on - you're indirectly using it right now too. The Platform is also used by Bungie to make the Destiny Companion app you're probably also using on an [url=https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/destiny-companion/id441444902?mt=8]iOS[/url] or [url=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bungieinc.bungiemobile&hl=en]Android[/url] based device, so it's pretty extensible. After Halo Reach was released, a similar [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/11504]API was made available[/url] for third-party developers like you and I to use to retrieve stats for Reach, and it worked really well. There have also been some really impressive stat tracking websites and applications created by both Bungie and the community, including HaloCharts, DestinyTracker, and so on. Although what if you wanted to make your own program that might just run on your desktop or on your phone and tell you when your friend has last played and won? Maybe you'd like to have something that pops up from the corner of your screen and lets you know the stats of your friends' games right after they've played them? There's a limit to what a stat website can do. That's where you come in. I have started working on an open source library of code hosted on GitHub based on the Bungie.net Platform [b]which can be used freely by anyone who wants to use it[/b]. However, the Platform as it exists at the moment is a little difficult to work with right now and I need help in writing the code.
