Unknown Enemy Race?

So many questions in the Destiny universe, however one question that's on the top of my list is whoever or whatever that race (race 5) is. My best guess is that it is the Darkness itself... or could it be the Agents of the Nine? What are your thoughts? Now, we're getting somewhere. I'm starting to believe that Race 5, and the Ships, belong to The Nine.
