I don't see why this would work. That's for ethernet and that's going to get reassembled as the packets go from router to router. For the curious it stands for Maximum Transmission Unit. It's the biggest packet your device will send. It used to matter a lot more when devices had fewer resources but these days you usually just leave the default and it's fine. Oftentimes you would set it to better work with a modem or WAN link because the underlying protocol couldn't handle larger packets and it would cause further fragmentation if it was set to high. Again, this is seriously not an issue anymore with broadband everywhere. I haven't changed an MTU since the Windows 98 days. I'm a little surprised that it's even a setting on the Playstation.
