Day One of Destiny is behind us. We’re still hard at work to make sure all of you have a great experience.
Thanks in part to chatter on our forums, we’re aware of some networking issues being experienced on college and university campuses. Our team is engaged in diagnosing the cause, but you might also be able to help.
Members of the Bungie team will be contacting some of you directly to troubleshoot. Keep an eye on your Bungie.net inbox to see if you’ve been drafted as a test subject. If you don’t hear from us, we still love you and we’re still working to get you into orbit.

UPDATE 1.0: We’re making progress toward a solution to the university network issue. A potential cause are security devices that don’t recognize Destiny network traffic. We’re in touch with the manufacturers of these devices to create an update that we hope will enable you to play.
Stay tuned as work on this continues. In the meantime, it might be a good idea to learn the contact information for your network administrator. Stand by!
UPDATE 2.0: We have isolated the issue and are working with security device manufacturers to release a fix this coming Monday, September 15th. Affected universities will need to apply the patch from the security device vendor to fix the problem. Once the patch is released, we’ll add details to this thread that you can forward to your network administrators. Stand by, be brave, and have a nice weekend.
[b]UPDATE 3.0: We have determined the cause at the root of most of the issues being encountered on university campuses. We have been in touch with network admins at most of the universities listed on this forum (thanks again for helping us help you). In summary, there are network security devices that have been incorrectly identifying Destiny traffic as a bit-torrent. We have also reached out the manufacturers of the security devices in question. They've been awesome, and have released an update that will allow you to play on a network protected by their hardware. That update will need to be applied by your local network administrators, assuming they have not done this already.[/b]

I called the IT department again and they said they're aware of a problem. They said bungie emailed them but it wasn't with a fix. They said "as of right now it's all in bungie's hands" ... All I get is "sorry, sorry, sorry" over and over again. They don't know how to fix the problem but "they're working on it" .. This is so frustrating. Bungie please do something about this. It's almost been two weeks and I can't progress at all. I know I'm not the only one with this problem.. Help... I'm done being angry I'm just upset now. Sigh..

I am so unbelievably sympathetic to everyone here who is not able to play, and am furious that they released a game that wasn't immediately playable to anyone and everyone, however I thought I would post that anyone at the UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI on this forum CAN NOW PLAY THE GAME. I am genuinely frustrated that it took this long, and that thousands of home users and college users alike still cannot play this game. I hope to see all of you in the Tower as soon as possible. Just to clarify I am still plagued with these errors every time I play. Baboon and centipede being the mist common. I did have a good run today but never at nights. I'm on a xbox360 and I'm in New Zealand.

BUNGIE, we are tired of your excuses. You invested 500+ million dollars into a game we invested because we believed in your service to the customer and delivering a great game... Why can't we play? Where's your customer service? This issue is on your end. You got your money and way more back, please use it to fix your game and allow the thousands of us who can't play, finally able to enjoy your game. Just don't sweep this issue under the rug, because you will piss off the wrong people and you will lose it all :(

Alfred University's IT department has apparently not been contacted because they STILL don't believe that there is an error. Bungie, stop expecting the customer to convince someone that the company made a mistake. Use some of that half-billion dollar and get leverage, perhaps?

What the hell is going on here!! I dont care about a fix or update, Im past ALL that garbage, I AM SIMPLY NO LONGER INTERESTED IN THIS GAME THAT DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED! I just want a full refund at this point but I cant find any customer support Information for ACTIVISION or BUNGIE. All I can find are numbers and email addresses that are no longer in service or working. And constantly being directed to the forums, twitter, and facebook . I dont want to tweet , i dont want to post on facebook! I just want my money back! What company puts out a game and has NO customer support!?!?! If theres somewhere im not looking or missing the section where i can get in contact with these jokers please let me know.

I have got the centipede error at Manchester Uni UK. I was just wondering if the fix would work for the UK as most posts seem to be from USA collages.

[b]I like how college students are so entitled that they need problems resolved within less than a week before they jump to the conclusion that people have given up on them[/b]. Fixing things take time. Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm a college student myself. I can't connect from Kean University dorms but I'm sure this will be resolved soon.

FIU student here, called IT and gave them my Xbox's MAC address and some other info. I was told to disconnect my Xbox while they put my console on a list to be updated for the new game network they're making, which took about an hour. First time I've been able to get past the title screen since I got this game.

Have sent 3 e-mails to bungie with my IT departments contact information and have not received a reply or even an acknowledgement for any of them.
