Here it is, folks!

Details for the December matchmaking update are listed below, there are quite a few changes, so read through it carefully. Feel free to discuss the changes here, we don't need hundreds of individual threads about how you like or dislike specific changes.

Also, if you're interested, check out the Playlist Info page, which I have updated with all the new changes and made some fixes as well, since I was already in there.

These changes will go live on the morning of Tuesday, December 6th. We're telling you approximately when it will go live because due to the removal and rearranging of some of the playlists, there will be some matchmaking "mismatches" due to players having different version of the playlists. Make sure to check out the news story that will be posted this afternoon for more details on what to expect and how to avoid the complications.

* Head to Head and Major Clanmatch playlists have been removed due to low usage.

* Minor Clanmatch has been renamed to Clanmatch and now supports clan teams of 4-5 players each, your Minor Clanmatch ranks will persist to the new Clanmatch playlist. The new Clanmatch playlist is still a combination of the Team Slayer and Team Skirmish playlists.

* 6v6 Team Battle playlist has been added and supports 5-6 players per team. Maps and gametypes are similar to Big Team Battle, but there are some smaller maps included, which you will no longer find in the Big Team Battle playlist. Games will only start with even teams.

* Big Team Battle has been updated to support only the largest team sizes of 7-8 players per team. Maps and gametypes have been slightly revised, some of the smaller maps can now only be found in the 6v6 Team Battle playlist. Games will only start with even teams.

* Team Snipers is now a ranked playlist, your hidden rank will now be visible! We've also updated the maps in this playlist to include maps of various sizes, there are now 15 maps in this playlist and they are weighted based on popularity.

* Rumble Armory unranked free-for-all playlist has been added, which supports 4-8 players. All players will start with the same weapon in these rumble style games.

* Team ActionSack unranked team playlist has been added, which supports 6-8 players. Many of the gametypes in this playlist are inspired by the community, enjoy.

* Team Hardcore will no longer feature a Magnum secondary starting weapon. The following playlist entries have been slightly reduced in weight: Team Ball on Warlock, Crazy King on Backwash, CTF Classic 3 on Backwash, Multi Flag CTF on Sanctuary.

* Double Team has a few changes to Team Slayer gametypes on Beaver Creek, Foundation and Midship. The regular Team Slayer games on those maps will now feature the Duals Only weapon set.

* Rumble Pit has a few changes to Rumble Slayer gametypes on Beaver Creek and Midship, they will now be Rumble Duals using the Duals Only weapon set. Rumble Slayer on Colossus has been replaced with Rumble Snipers on Colossus.

* Rumble Training has a few weighting changes, default Rumble Pit gametypes have been lowered in weight and gametypes such as Slayer Pro and SWAT have been increased in weight.

* Team Skirmish has a few changes, the following entries have been removed: Rapid Assault on Warlock, 3 Plots on Ascension, 3 Plots on Relic, 3 Plots on Warlock.

* Team Slayer has a few changes, Human weapon set is no longer used on Elongation Team Slayer. Colossus Team Slayer now uses the No Sniping weapon set. Added BR starts to Team Slayer on Ascension and Backwash. Changed Team Slayer on Beaver Creek, Foundation and Gemini to Duals Only weapon set. Added some Team Snipers gametypes back into the Team Slayer playlist.

* Team Training has been overhauled to match the new Team Slayer and Team Skirmish changes, also the training exclusive gametypes have received a higher weighting.

* All "Covenant" named gametypes will now feature the Covenant weapon set as well, these gametypes that featured a BR start previously will now feature a Carbine start. All heavy and flying vehicles have been removed from these gametypes.

Looks good. Not sure about these "duals" gametypes because it seems like they'll get old really quick. Glad to see Covenant weapon sets instead of a Wraith slapped into a game on Headlong (I assume thats how this works?)

I'm not a big fan of changing some of the slayer types to duals only. I really enjoy human slayer on Beaver Creek, especially when I get a chance to pick up a BR. That map is never really dominated by the power weapons(e.g. rockets, sniper, combo), so I'm not sure why it needed to be changed.

Oh well though, I'll get over it, it will still be fun.

These changes are pretty extensive - I excited, but also nervous. All Duals?!?!

Making Snipers Ranked is a mistake. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the playlist - FOR WARM-UP! Its really just a silly game, not a serious list, it doesn't "deserve" a rank.

I frequently look at the competitions "overall rank" displayed by their name under recent players. I'm still pretty jazzed when I beat a 33. Now I'll just have to wonder "Is that their slayer rank? Or their stupid team sniper rank?" - and the victory will be much less sweet.

But still... All Duals?!?! I'll have to play it.

This is a great update. I cant say any changes to MM from this update are bad at all even though I would suggest the removal of Land Grab (Not fun).

I have a question: Why do you always focus on making the slayer variants more balanced and not the objective variants? For example, Relic has BR starts in Slayer, but not for anything else, like CTF, or the duals only weapon set for 2v2 Midship and BC slayer but not for their other games. I find it kind of odd. This not a complaint, I just want to know why this is.

Agreed. If any gametype needs the "no sniping" on Colossus, it's the objectives.

Made it to the first page again!
Glad to see H2H and Major removed. I'll miss the 3v3 clan matches, it had been so fun.
Can u tell us about the weightings for 6v6? I would like it to be mostly, or at least half slayer.
Team Snipers becomes ranked.......another playlist is now contaminated by standbyer, modder, and bridgers...........
Rumble Armory....sounded just like Rumble Training. Did u mean "everyone will only use the same weapon" when u said "everyone will start with the same weapon"? if no, what's the difference between Rumble Armory and Rumble Training? If yes, would the games in Rumble Armory be something like Team Swords, shotties, pistols, etc?
Team Action Sack will probably be the most fun game for me. Thanks again bungie.
Sweet BR start changes in TS, but some Anti- BR people will start complaining now. There will not be any Rocket Whore on foundations.^ ^
A little dissapointed to see Hardcore slayer weighting stays the same.......... but oh well.
Team snipers will not be my warm up games anymore, that sucks.
Thanks bungie for another sweet, great update. U have shown the community once again that u guys are the best!!!!

It was that post about the LOWBALL game mechanics.

Anyways You guys are doing great work and that new playlist are great espically getting rid of the BR's, I dont mind them but I get owned by MLG type players.

* Minor Clanmatch has been renamed to Clanmatch and now supports clan teams of 4-5 players each, your Minor Clanmatch ranks will persist to the new Clanmatch playlist.

All players will start with the same weapon in these rumble style gametypes.

* 4 players minimum in Clanmatch!! No!! i can almost guarantee that it will be changed to 3 within 2 updates because people want to play with 3 clanmembers. My clan only has about 4-5 members and thats cool with me cuz i know 2 of the guys personally so we are on at the same time a lot. we like to play 3v3 clanmatches but now its now possible. that will suck! it should be 3-6 with a 0 party imbalance

* you surpised us with the other two! it doesn't bother me whether snipers is ranked or hiddenranked but will our hidden rank switch over to the ranked version??? it will be cool to see my rank but it was a great gametype for guests tho. oh well i don't play with guests much anyway + there are more unranked gametypes (Rumble Armory!!!)

* i know this update is already final but there is no way Backwash can be in Team Snipers. Thats insane. in a bad way. THE LEAST sniper compatable map is Backwash. if you think otherwise i'd like to hear the reasoning behind that.

* oh and nice job with the Team Duals. that is much better especially on Foundation. i hate those BRs and i love dual weilding

everythings great, whats new

Yes, if you frequently play Team Snipers, when you get the update you will see your skill level which was previously hidden.

We're not starting everyone out at 1 again.

Why do you keep adding more snipers? You have a snipers playlist so remove snipers from Team Slayer and BTB. I understand having it in Multi-Team it is a different experience, but keep Snipers out of the other playlists, if I want to play Snipers I will enter the snipers playlist
