Subject: Matchmaking update with Halo 3: ODST

Prepare to Drop

There is a very simple idea coming from this thread; Matchmaking update.

How
Put an update for Halo 3 in Halo 3: ODST to change the rankings and everything. Players can not play Halo 3 without the update.
What
-Make each win you go up in skill and each loss you go down in skill, and possibly a prestige mode going 5+ times. (Ex: Top rank could look like this and could have a name like UNSC Master Chief or another possible name)
-Update the graphics
-Put in new functions for new maps synchronized with older and first maps (ex: rain, snow, night, day, etc.)
-New spawning weapon possiblities (beam rifle, plasma rifle, etc.)
-New armor colors and color abilities (black *must be visible on all maps*, etc.)
-Armor and emblem updates (new emblems, emblem on both shoulders, emblem on back for Spartans, secondary color used in Team games, etc.)
-Visor colors changeable (blue, green, red, etc.)
- New vehicle skins( jungle, desert, etc.)
***Bungie, if this is possible, please do this because this is what the fans want and what will bring many players to and back to Halo 3 and Halo 3:ODST***

Out of all of this I have just one question: Why would the highest ranking officer in the UNSC Navy have the rank of Master Chief? Would they not have the rank of Admiral or something similar?

First off, forcing people to buy Halo 3 ODST to play matchmaking is just plain unfair and stupid.
Secondly, The truskill system now does work pretty well, yes their are some prooblems with it but the system is set up so everyone can get to fifty, and it takes numerous games for your truskill to be actualy found.
All the other one fall into the realm of the same thing as adding new armor perms, Yes the can do, but the time that it would take and the money it would cost them would be astronomical for an Expansion pack, not to mention it would be pretty much redoing the whole Halo 3 multiplayer.

Well, since Master Chief is the highest ranking in the Marines and Admiral is the Army Fleet i think it would be logical to use master chief

Proud and honoured to be the 17th player to complete the Halo 3 Campaign on Mythic difficulty.

Master Chief is a Naval rank, not an Army rank. I believe that Master Chief is the highest ranking NCO in the Navy. The overall highest rank in the Navy would be Admiral and its variants.

Anyway your suggestions are totally impossible and impractical. I and many other also hapeen to like Halo 3 as it is. The ranking system would work perfectly well if people didn't abuse its flaws.

Actually, I believe Commandant is the highest rank in the marines. And there are no Admirals in the army, there are however admirals in the navy.

I don't think that Bungie will make you buy a new game just to be able to play an older game.
So the new game is gonna have to be compatible with H3, which it will.
IT would take far more work for them to actually make Multiplayer possible on the new game. That's why its an expansion pack for campaign with some new maps.
Some of the updates you mentioned seem ok but the others just wouldn't happen.

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

A leftenant is better then a Master Cheif.

Unless of course the Master Cheif in question is a 2 Ton Spartan.

No.

First, this is an expansion pack. Graphic improvements are out.
Second, its an EXPANSION PACK. NON-MANDATORY.
Third, maps are not retroactively malleable. NO RAIN, NO FX, no new stuff for the original maps.
Fourth, Halo 3 ODST contains the Halo 3 Multiplayer client. No new weapon spawn options or colors, visor colors (really?).
Fifth, Vehicle skins are dependent on the map.

Aside from the ranking system change, it sounds good. I like the ideas for the changes but i doubt too many of them are actually possible.

As for those of you who think it's wrong to do because they're just making you buy their new game to play the old one, tough luck! You know most of you are going to buy it anyway, so quit complaining.

Aren't we arrogant. Notice how Bungie has a DLC playist. Why would they have a DLC playlist? Because not everyone bought the Legendary map pack. You see Bungie isn't going to piss off their dwindling population by forcing people to purchase their stuff, that would be catastrophic.

To be more specific....this is what YOU want. And if you expect any of these things to happen, I think you are going to be sorely disappointed by this game. Bungie has already announced that most of the stuff you are asking for won't be happening. Sorry bud.

Need spawns done or reviewed for your ATLAS map? PM your map!

Maximum patch size for any 360 game is around 4MB. I'm thinking Bungie would rather reserve that space for security updates than wasting it patching effects into old maps or adding Jungle Hogs.
