If you haven't yet, I urge you to stream or download Bungie's latest teaser trailer for one of their current Halo-related projects. This thread will serve as a place to post your findings on the smaller details of the teaser trailer, and why or how they might be relevant to dissecting the meaning.

As always, all of the characters in our games are fictional. Any similarities between real life and the characters in our games are purely coincidental.

That said, this is both an unfortunate and untended coincidence.

What We Know So Far

:::This teaser is for a Halo 3-related campaign experience, as seen in the description of the video on XBOX Live: "High action and deep mystery await players in this new Halo 3 campaign experience. Prepare to drop!"
:::This teaser takes place in the City of New Mombasa.
:::We are in the perspective of the Super Intendant.
:::There has been some major catastrophe in New Mombasa from a huge explosion (possibly caused by an unidentified ship.
:::The city has been evacuated prior to catastrophe, leaving a population of 0.
:::The Teaser references Master Chief in this image.

What We Speculate
:::The teaser is set in 2552.
:::Seen in this string of code, as well as this, is a possible date, 01/06/09, that some are speculating to be a release date.
:::The pods that are falling into orbit are UNSC Helljumper drop pods.
:::The aircraft/spacecraft seen floating in the background of New Mombasa is actually the Prophet of Regret's flagship, and furthermore, its exit through slipspace within city limits is what caused the catastrophic EMP explosion.
:::This image, consisting of several UNSC drop pods, shows a small group going a different way. This may correlate with the following excerpt from the recent PARDON MY DUST update:
[DARE.V.500341(S1)]: “Sir. I don’t report to Fleet.”
[DARE.V.500341(S1)]: “And the men I want? Now they don’t either.”
[DARE.V.500341(S1)]: “Please. Read my request.”

Going frame-by-frame through the teaser, I noticed a few messages in the red warning label that we have not yet seen before, and they are as follows:

"Maddie, where are you?"
"Danger: Flood Zone"

Furthermore, near the end of the video, we see the HUD we are looking through show text in the bottom left of the screen and then again in the bottom right of the screen that says:

"Activating Subroutine: "Vergil"
Warning: Data Leak on level 9.

"Prepare to Drop" most likely is referring to the pods that fly down after the EMP explosion.

I'll be uploading more images as I go, and any information you might be able to provide as well.

Said "web-like image" is just the cracked glass of the camera screen. It's easier to tell if you go back one or two frames.

is it confirmed to be new mombasa in 2552? like a pic or something? i didn't see it. it would be easy to assume it's new mombasa though

I want to say for some reason that there was a "subroutine Vergil" in the novels. It sounded familiar when I saw that. I think we can say with almost 100% certainty that those pods are ODST drop pods from a still i saw in another thread. As for the web like image it appears to be cracked glass, possibly from the drop pod hitting the camera at the end.

the maddie where are you bit, i highly doubt its related but there has been a young girl named maddie that went missing in portugal around 2 years ago that has never been found, maddie mccann, cant be related to that, surely?

Some info of mine and Clanmember's. Italicized is his.

If you look carefully, you can see throughout the video that the city is New Mombasa, probably the outskirts of it by how far the orbittal elevator appears. Also notice that at 10 seconds in, you can see the tip of Regret's Assualt Carrier just above the slanted AMG building. This also reveals the cause of the explosion at 22 seconds in, they just jumped within the city. Among other things that are far more obvious, I noticed that at 36 seconds, when the Superintendant is displaying the messages we've seen before, a new message appears ">>Maddie, where are you?<<"

If you pause it at certain points, it looks to be either a UNSC lifeboat or a cryopod. (Talking about the one that crashes into camera.) The blue explosion's pods could be Covenant drop pods, and if the city is New Mombasa, then perhaps this is a campaign mission where Chief tries to stop the Covenant from destroying it? It doesn't go with the storyline, but in the storyline, perhaps it could be the MC's dreams or a flashback?

Also, it does say EMP trip, so it very well could be Rebels or ODST. EMP = Electro Magnetic Pulse. Also, in one scene, you can see parachutes behind some "pods", which would support the fact that these are humans.

Also, some other things i noticed. It says 2552 in the corner, which i think is the year New Mombasa (NM) fell. Also, i have a feeling we should watch out for 16/11. November 16th.

Thanks to previously mentioned clan member, a lot of confusion is sorted out. The Pods were not attacking the city, but were coming to HELP! Regret's Assault Carrier attacked them when they were in a cluster with one of it's large weapons, and caused the explosion! Bungie, you tricky guys you!
