I was fooling around with Forge the other day with two 'cameras' when I stumbled upon what I believe may be an overlooked bug regarding the animation of the Gravity Hammer. The main 'swing' function instigated by RT is perfectly fine, but I noticed an inconsistency between the animations triggered by the alternate 'melee' function (instigated by RB in the bumper-jumper control scheme), when observed from:
1st person - i.e. the avatar doing the melee; and
3rd person - i.e. the view of an observer, standing behind them as they do this melee attack
This is trivially easy to reconstruct and test in either Forge or a Custom Game if you need to be convinced, but in a nutshell, here is what goes awry:
1st person - e.g. it looks as if the pointy handle of the hammer is jabbed forward; whilst in
3rd person - e.g. it looks like the hammer is being swung horizontally like a 'scythe'.
I can well understand how this disconnect could have been missed in testing and it does not diminish my admiration for what is undeniably one of the most coherent and well-balanced game worlds that I have felt privileged to experience. I hardly use my 360 for anything else!
