What's up dudes? So, I am on these forums quite a bit and have come across all different types of personalities displayed amongst our Community of BNET users. I have noticed certain trends in relationship to their attitude and they type of Helmet they wear. At the expense of creating a the dreaded "wall of text" I will list the helmet and give a short description of the general personality characteristics attributed to it.
1. Mark 6- your basic Halo player. cut and dry. not really adventurous. I rarely see too many montages or cool forge shananagins coming from the Mark 6. They just play to play
2. CQB- Generally friendly and considerate. Very few original threads coming from the CQB, but very good at responding to those who need help or coming the defense of those being unjustly flamed. (I proudly count myself among the CQB) We appreciate the forums as a public gathering place and encourage others to use them.
3. EVA- Generally quite knowledgable. I have observed not a few EVA's who seem to have a rational, logical answer for most problems. They seem to have insider information and can give you very easy to understand, insightfull answers to your questions.
4. Hayabusa- Wannabee's. (No offense) They try to act tough, and play a mean game, but you can tell they dont really know what they are talking about. Their threads generally contain numerous gramatical errors, and misinformation. They like Halo, but are quick to flame BUNGIE for things going wrong that are THEIR OWN fault.
5. Rouge- These are the NON-Wannabees. Rouge wearers generally are good players who enjoy a competitve game. They get upset easily at the injustices of lag or the glitches and are not afraid to voice their opinion on BNET. Rouges (unlike Hayabusa) however, will bring video footage or other PROOF of misdeeds to the forums. They will try to logically present issues with reason and hope for similar responses from the community.
6. Mark 5- Your Halo purist. Mark 5's can be seen posting many threads comparing and contrasting Halo 3 with Halo in it's purest and god-like form; the ever befamed- Halo:CE. They much desire the Halo:CE maps to be remade such as Sidewinder, Chill-out and Blood Gulch. Many MLG players wear mark 5 as props to their roots and as such, many mark 5's will stand in staunch defense of MLG and it's format.
7. EOD- The rebels. These guys proudly wear the ugliest helmet in the game....just dont tell them that. Many EOD wearers sport bad tempers and "wall of text" rants about the BS that is Halo 3. They are super competitve and usually very skilled players. They arent afraid to tell BUNGIE were to shove the game though, if things dont go right. If you should get killed by an EOD in close quarters, you may expect a teabagging or two.
8.Security- The elitists. These guys are fabulous at Halo. They like to make sure that everyone knows it. They boast the most difficult head in the game. Generally, Security wearers are posting links to their stats or video footage of a sweet multikill. Dont say anything stupid in front of Security or prepare to get flamed. They dont shy away from putting a newb in their place.
9. ODST- Generally your les skilled players. They prefer the campaign mode to multiplayer as they 1. Proudly sport the Helmet of cool human characters of the campaign and 2. wear the first helmet given to them in MMing. ODST threads are generally frought with questions like "how do i do this?" or "how do i do that?" Most of us roll our eyes when we see ODST threads because the topic is usually from the HALO 101 handbook or juvenille.
10. Scout- The Scout users are generally duplicitous. In fact, you dont see too many Scouts on BNET. They are hard to catagorize. They are for the players who havent quiet figured out who they are and therefore a little bit of everything. Some are jerks, some are nice, some are dumb. Scouts can turn on you within a thread as they are easily swayed and hardpressed to take a definate stand. Scouts are more observant.
Anyhow, like I said, these are just things that i have noticed. I am on these forums quite a bit. I wanted to go into more detail about each one but i was afraid i would turn poeple off from reading it. If this goes against your observation then let me know. I'm CQB and welcome the freindly debate.
And yes, i have way too much free time on my hands. I am off of work today and determined to do nothing but lay around and play on the computer. Thats why i can take the time to make a thread like this.
