My girlfriend and I are both gamers and we play a lot of Halo 3 together, so when it came time to pop the question, I thought up a different way of going about it.
I started working on a High Ground custom map in Forge and made sure she saw me working on it. I asked her to run the map with me and test it out for balance, weapon selection, etc. I even put an energy sword on the bridge to make sure she would run there first thing. Once she said the map was fine, I scheduled a match with some friends of mine for a two-on-two game. What she didn't know was that I had also been working on another map, one I loaded on the sly for the match. Once the game started, we headed for the bridge (my friends knew what was going on and held still to not show up on radar) only to find the sword missing. So she moved forward, looked down, and there on the ground, spelled out in various weapons, were the words "marry me?" While she was processing this, I slipped out the ring I had bought and held it up just as she was turning to ask me what I was playing at. I presented her the ring and asked if she would be my teammate for the rest of my life.
She said yes.
A little later, she killed me with a shotgun.
Who says romance is dead?
